Off to hospital

Glad to hear you are home and recovering Mike. I can't believe the lengths you'll go to to get out of the Christmas prep :xlaugh:

Wow! Glad you are home and sorted out. Take care. Heal fast. Stay warm. :xThumb:

@scousebird Rose has said the very same thing. But I am learning to carry a bottle or two.

Hi Mike Hope your op goes well you should be in & out the same day as long as you can pee before they let you home I had an inguinal hernia repair done about 4 years ago & long as you take it a bit easy for a while you should be fighting fit in no time.Good excuse to put your feet up & watch the footie.Best wishes. Gray & Pat

Sounds like a long time to wait, especially with a private hospital in the equation. How long would it have taken in Portugal? In Greece, you'd have been in & out in a few days.

Thanks @Debs . It is poor Rose who has got to do it all. And a very happy Christmas And new year to you as well.

Thank you @Snowbird. We hope all is going well with you . So have a great Christmas and a very happy new year.

@Snowbird hope you are not too sore.

@cruiser mind you don't do anything silly - you really do have to take it easy and let the muscles re-knit.

My hernia was umbilical and cancelled twice as when I got to the hospital and they discovered I was female (my notes say I am male and I have been attempting get them corrected for several years - I've even been asked when I got my gender reassignment surgery!!!) so there was no bed for me. Eventually (and after a big fuss including my MSP) I was referred elsewhere and it was discovered there was rather more than a simple hernia to deal with but that is another story.

You have made mine seem small. I would say that it make feel a bit better. But that is not nice. I feel lucky that I was dealt with so quickly . My poor suffering wife . Is having to do all the work. Debs said I have done it on purpose . So @Puddleduck .We hope you have a great Christmas And a happy new year.

Martin's was done very quickly - but I made sure he was very careful for a full six weeks afterwards :)

No surgery (no matter how minor) is nice.

Rose had some fun peeling the dressing of . They did not shave me very well down there. But feeling a lot better now. @denisejoe . And a very merry Christmas to you both.

Well thank you one and all. The hernia was just over my right testicular. I am back home now and very sore. But the op went well. I was very lucky my doctor sent me to a private hospital. Wow the difference from nhs. I did not get back from Portugal until November 2. So a very quick op.. Which I am very grateful. At the moment going to the toilet is very painful .But thank you all for your best whishes' May you all have a great Christmas and a very happy new year From Rose And me.
And yes I can lift a whisky glass. Free or not
Missed all the drama, but glad to hear you are ok.

Ladies pay good money for a bikini wax and you've had one for free, only half though!
Glad it's done, don't overdo it. These NHS referrals to private hospitals are rather nice, Nick did that for his shoulder.

Thank you John and Catherine. Starting o get around Now still very sore. But poor Rose is doing well. But may we wish you a very merry Christmas And a great new year. And we hope to see you soon.:xThumb: @Stagman

@carolyn .Thanks for that. Rose had fun pulling the dressing of last night. The nurse did not shave me very well. My dear wife had tears in her eyes from laughing at the faces I was pulling. But yes very lucky I got sent private. We hope to see you soon.

You know you should have done it yourself in advance :) When I went in for lady surgery "down there" I was advised to shave myself, which I did, very cautiously.

Glad you are feeling so much better.

One thing they may not have told you is to wear supportive underwear to hold things that would otherwise dangle up a bit higher. The blood from your bruising will go to the lowest point and you don't want it in end of the dingly dangly. You'll realise that now you are up and about more.

@Puddleduck It is people like you that keep me laughing .And that hurts as well. But no they did not tell me to wear supportive undies. And did not know that it would affect my dingle dangles. They swelled up a treat. But it is getting better. I can get up the stairs a bit quicker now. Oh And I did a sneeze , I do not want to do that again. LOL.

I have found that out the hard way. lol

You learn so much on this forum that you didn’t expect to learn...

That will teach you to read hospital posts. @klaatu I wished I had found out a little bit more I had it done. But hey ho. And a very merry Christmas to you.

Don't get constipated either, straining wonn't be much fun. Lots of prunes, dried apricots, senna, lactulose or movicol if you're on codeine type painkillers.
