I'm a newbie
Turns out the tow bar was struggling with the weight, bike bouncing about, too much deflection, so took it off. Will have to manage with walking and public transport. Anyway on ferry with a much lighter van

Has the towbar been mounted correctly on the main chassis and not on the extension?

Yes they do wobble on a towbar. You'll have to get a small trailer... Upside is you can have something a lot more powerful 😈

That's a lot of wejght so far back from the rear axle, what suspension upgrages or mods have you got over standard?

Rhino installed airbags (previous owner) motorhome handled the weight no prob, tow bar was too weak. May have been ok but not worth risking it

It's like a bumper full with of van, so think it will be chassis mounted

The tow bar nose weight is problem ni more than 100kgs and attached to the chassis extension.
The fact that’s like a bumper and wide does not mean it’s attached to the main chassis.

Depending on what type of chassis the van has .

Edit: the bike carrier must weigh 30+ kgs without the bike.

Hope you have a great trip even though you won’t have your bike. I am sure you will still have a fantastic time.

Has the garage been reinforced? With some vans the chassis extension is bolted though the garage via checker plate etc and it allows the garage to take up to 250kg. Normally a factory option, however that makes the chassis extension become much sturdier.
