Not just freeloaders here then ...

I wonder if they will do the same with motorhomes as they are doing to us with tourist rentals, restrictions to 10 day's wanting to know everything about the clients it's getting ridiculous, yes we do have too many tourists, but reducing their stay doesn't stop them coming. 🙄 Bob.

Wherever tourism is popular there will be conflicting views on how much tourism is desirable it's the same around here a lot of locals would like house prices to beat lower most jobs are pretty poorly paid and the demand for property for tourism increases prices. On the other hand 30 miles up the coast there's a lot less tourism and very few jobs at all! I think most would agree that an undesirable part of tourism is second homes that are empty most of the year. On the campsites in Spain it's probably less contentious that increased tourism in that form affects property prices.
To give you some idea how popular Whitby is we have 24 bookings this year so far although a lot are long weekends and mid week breaks not full weeks and that's with most of the peak season still available people generally book two to three months ahead.

Bob

You talking about accommodation rental or cars?

If accommodation do the authorities not realise that most air charters operate on a weekly basis from some airports, and not many people fly to Spain for one week.

Yes accommodation rentals up to 10 nights on the tourist licence, you can do a short term rental contract 11 nights or over but its not going to be easy and more paperwork this link explains it, we have lots of bookings this year, and can work round the system, but if we continue we don't know, the property market has gone bonkers and our valuation was good, but it would mean finding somewhere else in a cheaper area, we have already cut our start date so we can enjoy our time here. I'm 70 this year it's our only home so tempting 😁 we will decide when we come home things could change by then. 😆 Bob.

Our in laws rent a flat in Edinburgh as a holiday let the rules there have tightened up a lot. I think it's going to be happening everywhere that's seen as a tourism hotspot
