Northumberland trip, shorter than planned.

Where my Mum grew up. Not in Northumberland but near York. My Grandparents eventually moved into a house in the grounds but I have wonderful memories of holidays there. My Grandma was the cook and my Grandfather did secret work in the house - it was commandeered in WWII and remained in use as a secret location until quite recently I think.

Now an hotel.

Up early this morning, but sun was just rising
If I'd quickly got ready, I would still have missed it for a decent pic on the beach. Oh well.Screenshot_20250329-172721.webpOff home soon, were going to pop in to Seaton Delavil hall but need to get back quicker.

Brrrrrrrrr
I recall an acquaintance going for a dip with a friend up in that part of the world and diving in first. The friend enquired "What's it like" to which the response was "I don't know, I can't feel anything"

I've capsized a kayak a couple of times and it was cold even through a dry suit..... Mind I have also swum in glacier melt in Norway (again wearing a dry suit) and that was invigorating. I think that's the correct word!!! In my defence it was a dare and I won a big basket of strawberries. Younger and more foolish then.

Been home 24hrs now.
Van finished cleaning. Need to sort out the fresh water pump which stopped working on our last morning.
Also, dashboard outside temperature readout is showing 54°C but it does vary. Not bothered about that as long as it causes no grief.
Anyway........SUMMARY.
.Enjoyed our 5 days away, weather was lovely .
Both sites we stayed at were good but at £30 a night that's the most we've ever paid.
Anstead farm, booking process is a pain.
Visited 1 EH and 1 NT place, and Bamburgh castle which cost £37.50 for 2.
Had a wander round Seahouses village on our way back from Bamburgh and really enjoyed a walk along Anstead beach.
Bamburgh castle was very interesting but the cost makes the annual
 NT cost very reasonable.
Done 167 miles, total costs £198 approx including wine and minor sundries. Diesel on top, put £60 in the tank but more left than before I topped up.
One final note, have a look back at the photos I posted of Hareshaw walk.
What does the concrete seat spell out at the top of the "Giants steps" ?

Sorry Happy Jack I couldn't find the relevant photo? I think it is known as Cupid's Bower but might have that wrong.

Nope, sorry still don't see it. A video I can't watch and some steps is all.
Don't know why you can't see the vid, have checked it and I can watch it.
But, it's the steps I'm talking about.
Are you able to zoom in, touch photo with finger should enlarge it.
It's the concrete seat at the top of the steps you need to look at.
if not, use a magnifying glass.
