North Wales trip.

Now at Bryn Y Ffonnen ccc cs near Mold.
Just a field for a fiver a night.
Can't grumble but the grass could have been shorter
No eggs to get, Fox got the chickens.

Yesterday just involved chilling out at Bryn but we did have a barbie.

The laburnum walk was spectacular in May, unfortunately past the flower display now.
The rest of the garden makes up for it though

Anyone know what this bird is, was very "friendly", would have fed from my hand if I'd had some seeds.
At one time it was on the arm rest on the bench seat we were on just inches from my wife.

It looked so different to the Robins we are used to seeing in our garden.
We used to get robins nesting in our back porch in Durham. The young were cheeky and came into the kitchen given half a chance, then the parents would come in looking for them. The fledglings were quite dull in colour and had the mottling similar to in your photo. I thought it might be camouflage should they be waiting outside in trees or bushes to be fed.

Also birds often have variations in plumage as local populations interbreed.

Up early this morning.
Getting bus into Caernarfon at 8.36, 12 minute walk to bus stop.
We'll see how much it costs ?

Bus into Caernarvon straightforward, town itself just like any other town really.
After the castle had a walk along the promenade.
Castle itself is very extensive and well preserved but mostly bare apart from the Welsh guards museum. Enjoyed the castle but so hot we headed back to camp earlier than expected. Pics below.

After our visit a short journey to our site for the night, Colton hill farm ccc cs , just £10 a night.
Shrewsbury town centre is a 15 minutes walk.
Screenshot_20250630-145700.webpHad a few showers but weather still fine.
Site is basic but quite.

I remember watching King Charles getting his Prince of Wales gong at Caernarvon Castle, I think it was 1969.
I wonder why William didn't get the same extravagent treatment ?

Had a walk down to "The Royal Oak", max 10 minutes.
Leisurely pint but didn't set off until nearly 9pm.
So only the one then back before dark.
Up early tomorrow, off to get some cheap diesel then on to our next NT pit stop before the next site.

Apologies no posts yesterday.
No internet or phone signal at both Chirk castle pit stop and Ty Mawr ccc cs where we stopped last night.
Now at Little Moreton Hall NT, on our way to Buxton.
Will update on yesterday asap.

Lady at the gate let us in early but hall not open till 10.30 so on with the updating.
Yesterday.
Journey from coton hill to Chirk castle straightforward, no congestion.
Screenshot_20250630-151435.webpTook the light blue route as A5 can be very busy. Arrived in good time for garden opening but was raining heavy so just had lunch early while waiting for castle to open.
Appropriately picnic pie made from NT recipe
IMG_20250715_122635110_HDR.webpScrumptious.
