No water! Sureflo on AT Dakota

This makes you appreciate just being able to turn on the taps and wash the dishes and pans easily. I'll never take things for granted again.....

Does it look anything like this?
If it's the red wires at the top there that is the pressure switch.

Hi mh virgins I live just out side brighton but working in brighton tomorrow if I can be of any help let me know will pm you my number if you want
Gary.

Techno, many thanks for taking the time to post the photo , yes, that's very similar to ours. As I am looking at the photo where the two red wires are going into the black housing, it's the top one (as I look at the photo) that's smouldering.

If it did turn out to be the diaphragm I have been directed to ASAP supplies and the same part I posted earlier at £38 is under £30 delivered.

Andy, thanks very much for this info.....I assumed earlier that this problem wouldn't have been covered by our warranty with the dealer. But after phoning them today they have confirmed that it is covered and that we can call in on our way back north.
I've learned a lot more by everyone's advice.(y)
Having described the symptoms the dealer thought it would be the pressure switch.
Once again many thanks to you all for your time and help with this. Given that it's still under warranty, the dealer said they will replace the complete unit.

Regards, Bill

Sorry, I meant to say that the dealer said it would have been "smouldering" and not steam as I had thought latterly, as it was probably arcing over.

Thanks again, Bill

I've just been back out and had another look......when the pump is running, the water is coming through, the pump sounds quite healthy, the water flow seems good (according to Margaret) and there is no sign of what I originally thought to be steam. When the taps are off and the pump is switched on at the control unit, I can hear what sounds like electrical "arcing" from the spade connection. This is followed by what I now believe to be "smouldering" and not steam after all. EDIT

It's difficult to get a real good look at it at the moment, hope this makes some sense.

I have switched off the pump at the control unit for safety.

Bill

Again Bill, cut off the spade connectors and replace with new ones.

Its very unlikely the internal wiring will be effected as its very well secured, as is the microswitch, so moving the external wires will be making a contact with the spade connectors unless the spades are excessively loose on their connecting blades in the pump body.

Edit.....sorry Bill, just noticed you have the problem in hand.

Dont know who fitted that Andy but they want a slap.

Its upside down...and i dont mean just by the writing.

ALLWAYS place the motor BELOW the pump body.
if the diaphram leaks it will eventually leak into the motor when the valve block is above the electrics.

That is a birds eye view i.e. the unit is laid horizontal on its feet. I think you mean place the motor above the pump.

Rapido screw it flat on top of the inboard tank

Andy, this is the same model as ours......thankfully Oaktree are going to replace it as it's under warranty(y)

Update!
The van was booked in to Oaktree yesterday (Monday) and they replaced the water pump for us. Great to get the water back again(y)
Several other things sorted out under warranty.....thanks again to everyone for your help and advice.

Bill

The spade terminals on the end are the pressure switch I believe, just stripped ours and put back together as it had a slight leak, worth doing as the inside was caked in calcium deposit.

I keep a spare onboard along with a fuel filter

Hi Andy, might be a long time before you use all your spares, in 20 years of caravan and MH with Shurflo pump only had two problems and both times it was a drip from the casing and just wanted a strip, clean and rebuild.

Trouble is Martin the pump will fail when my wife is in the shower, hair all lathered, and expecting a miracle from yours truly! Within 2 seconds of course!

Just tell her perfection takes a little longer.
