After a long campaign, I finally ground down the other half and we bought our first camper van! We've been cycle tourists for a long time, carrying everything (including a small tent) on the bikes - so this is total luxury. Now that we are both retired and lump sums were burning a hole in our pockets, we decided to take the plunge. I've been avidly researching different models and specs for the last two years so I knew exactly what was at the top of the shortlist. Or at least I thought I did..... When we went to the caravan show, we did the usual trekking for miles, lying in every bed etc etc and then finally Diarmid said, "What about this one?" It wasn't on the list so I was a bit dubious. And hey presto - that was the van for us! A bit galling that he did no research whatsoever and then was the one to find the perfect van....
We picked up the van on Friday and are heading off for a couple of days to the Rhinos of Galloway and then on Sunday we head south to pick up the Chunnel on Monday. Let the adventures begin!!!!

:hi2: w2f  and watch out for those Rhinos in the Rhinns 🤣👍. Seriously, roads across the Rhinns tend to be narrow and the farmers have some mighty big kit these days. Enjoy your trip 👍

Welcome to the start of your adventures. We went through the same process of visiting dealers and a show making a list of needs for our travels. Hiring a motorhome put the final pieces in place.
One of our recent adventures was Dumfries and Galloway including a stop at the lighthouse on the Rhins of Galloway.

Welcome, enjoy your trip, the first of many. Similar position for us, in process of retiring but travelling with bikes in Europe planned for next year. Knaus owners too..

Sounds exciting. You can enjoy your adventures in comfort now ;)

You have joined the right place to pick the collectives brain if you have any questions and we are always happy to see photo's of trips if you want to share any.

Aha - I see you are based in that neck of the woods. You will have noted the typo - no Rhinos in Galloway LOL

I did but rule 1 is not to pull up folks spelling, thankfully as I’m awful at it. Yes we live in Dumfries but currently on our 1st week of 7 round Spain, in L’Estartit just now and probably moving tomorrow.
