Slide up the screen from the bottom, it'll give you the option to switch off. In settings you can turn off the vibration so it won't do it when you turn the volume right down.

I did that once and while it was off I missed a very important call. Never been off since. My phone is on 24/7You could just turn it off all phones and laptops tablets and all othe electrical goods have an off button .they are very easy to use unless you suffer from FOMO

Using the sleep function is a little less extreme and does it for you automatically at the times you set.Iv got iPhone I turn all notifications off, what’s app, emails, MHF ect

Is it not better just to look at what alerts you have when you decide to log on?
Ping........I've been on MHF for a decade or more yet never been pinged. You must be a popular bunny.last. I finally worked out how to turn my new phone off. I appreciate why it is not an easy task for safety reasons, but I am knackered as it pings every time someone posts on here on a thread I am watching, sometimes 1am in the morning. Plus, I hardly ever drink so on the weekends I can now switch if off when all the stupid talk and drinking starts on group chats. Night everybody

As said by Funflair, go into your setting on this forum, and untick all bother me constantly options, otherwise it will send you notifications every time someone replies to something that you have.
You could go primitive and switch all communication devices off and save a fortune having to recharge them,,but then you would be bored treeless and probably sit beside the fire full on with cardies and a old copy of the Radio times for comfort.

Being a poor old pensioner, I don't know anything about the expensive iPhones but, on my old android, in profile settings, I can choose between outdoors, pager,headset, general, silent & meeting.
Each has its own function such as 'Outdoors' the ring tone is louder and 'meeting' the ring is silent but the phone vibrates.
Perhaps iPhones have inferior functions?

I have just turned off email and other alert notifications in my Fun settings. I just have the red flag on the alert and conversations buttons on the blue bar so I see that when I log in.

Nope - all calls and texts are silenced in silent mode. If the kids or better half need me in an emergency, I want the phone to ring no matter what time of day .Just turn it on silent would work I would of thought
