Nightmare trip....

Sorry to that you had the computer stolen but at least no damage, when we got broken into, on a small CS( owner lived the other side of village) the smashed the side window to get in, nothing was on show but they went through all cupboard and found the iPads, kindles and other stuff.
Good that the Toad worked out good.

Sorry to hear of your problems was a bit silly leaving the van unlocked.
Shame you didn't come back to one of the low life's arms in Daisy's jaws.

Always a bit unsettling when something like this happens but at least they didn't do any damage to the van and if it had been locked they probably wouldn't have bothered so not apart from kicking yourself, not worth worrying about.
Get back out there and enjoy the van.

We had a bad experance in our tugging days. Pulled into a French supermarket near Lyon, scooter pulled up beside us lad hopped of the back opened passenger door & grabbed laptop out of wife's hands. For years never drove into a car park anywhere without making sure the doors were locked.

The scrots. I am pleased they didn't take Daisy as well.

It's the kind of crap you can really do without. I hope the police can do something and give you some good news.

So sorry to hear about losing your computer. Could have been worse. You could have lost your van and your Daisy. We went to Towbars 2 Towcars too and bought a Kia Picante from them. Excellent service and excellent after service too. They are always happy to talk if you have any problems, like forgetting stuff after not being away with van and car for so long after Covid (y) They even loaned us a car while the work was being done so we could take our dogs to a nearby woodland walk :giggle: Lovely guys there

How awful, glad your all ok, hope you get some
Positive news from the Police SOON 🤞

Don’t lock yourselves out of the ‘van when you go to Devizes, old-mo …….!!o_Oo_Oo_O;)

Really sorry you lost your computer but so lucky you didn't lose your dog. We are maybe uber cautious but we won't leave our Max alone in the van if it was locked.

Not nice when you get broken into.
We lost several bits of tech 2017 when we were burgled on a CL and a brand new-never worn Berghaus coat!
Chin up Mo you could have lost Daisy, the PC can be replaced!

Thanks all for the commiserations.... :drinks::hugs:

Going to buy a new one today... Checked on price of a new "Surface Pro"... Over a grand.. :Eeek::crying:

When I said to Judy... Go and buy a puter solely for the van.... I meant a bog standard one for a couple of hundred quids that we can both use... But £1.180..... She had to go over the top... :whew::frowny:

I will buy the next one... :giggler:

I have no idea.... what ever the simplist is...

Do you use iPads…….?

She do, I don`t......... Can just about drive a normal bog standard puter.. :frowny:
Why not get a second-hand MacBook (Apple) to simplify data transfer between devices - they could both share access to cloud storage, so no loss of photos, etc if you have another ‘senior-moment’ and don’t lock your ‘van! ;)

edit: cloud storage is like an off-site backup……

Does that use a proper key-board or the screen to type...?

I have a couple of small ones that have hardly been used cos I CANNOT use touch screen...

Even the new phone she bought me a week or so is in the drawer, because it is touch screen..

Yes, a keyboard - just like a Windows laptop - they just use Apple’s operating system rather than Windows…..

Sorry to hear about this old-mo ,it’s a matter of wrong place and wrong time !
Carry on camping ⛺

Hello, I’m new to all of this. If it’s any consolation your experience has made me think about my dogs being left in the van. I hadn’t considered whether to lock it and leave them in (obviously a concern re fire) or leave it open- potential theft and worse still losing my dogs! I wonder what others think re: the pros and cons of this. We got the van so we could continue to take our dogs away with us.

Can your dogs open a door if it is not locked?

If others come to assist with a fire and the van is locked they will break a window to rescue the dogs.

Ah, a very good point. I was thinking of someone being able to open the door to get them out I suppose.

For us the only way we feel safe is to make sure our dog is with one of us and wouldn't consider leaving him alone in van. The way I look at it is how would I feel if the van got stolen and Max was in it other, heaven forbid, there was a fire. So just one of us goes into shop and restaurants etc have to be dog friendly. Works for us.

We never leave our dogs alone in the ‘van - but we have four of them (dogs, not ‘vans;)) - they are all nosey bu**ers and everything would be in chaos when we returned. Also, leaving a dog in a ‘van on its own is not something that we’d do anyway…….

If you’re using computer for photos snd your other devices are Apple then it does make sharing them between devices easier.
May also reduce risk of one device is taken out of action.

I bought my van so I CAN leave my dog. He doesn’t want to be dragged everywhere we want to go, especially if it’s hot. He gets locked into the van, and good luck to the person that chooses to enter my van with him in there.
