Adria Vision i677sp
Hi everybody!

Roger and Anne here with our two Jack Russells, Buster & Jack. We've just joined the site as newbies to the world of motorhomes, but are eager to learn and look forward to any advice you may have.

We're both retired and are looking forward to spending quite a bit of our retirement looking around the UK and Europe in our recently acquired Adria Vision i677sp. We're concentrating on the UK at the moment but plan to start exploring Ireland and the Continent next year. Hopefully getting to chat about it all and compare notes with others on this site.

We acquired the 'Vision' in the Spring this year and have been doing several short trips while getting to know her. So far she's proved to be ideal. We've visited several sites and overnight stops in Gloucestershire, Cornwall, Mid and West Wales and are really enjoying both her and the new experience of motorhome-living. Buster & Jack love it too - lots of new walks to go on!

The Adria is an older girl, built in 2008 on a Renault Master chassis. She's in lovely nick for her age though and is powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine with a six-speed manual box. Seems to have plenty of power and low-end torque and, having done just 55k miles since new, runs like a dream. Inside she's just what we were looking for - a nice fixed-bed layout with lots of useful features and space and everything you need for all- season touring and on and off-grid living.

Shortly after getting her we upgraded the satellite finder to a new Snipe Platinum unit and added a Smart Car with A-Frame to the outfit, which has proved to be a boon for getting around. We have also just bought a SunnCamp Swift 390 awning for next summer, although we haven't used it yet. The Vision came with a wind-out Thule awning, which we found great for our earlier summer breaks.

Next is to upgrade the habitation battery, replacing it with two 120ah VRLA AGM leisure batteries, and to look into what we need to do, if anything, by way of supplementing the two existing solar panels. Solar energy is a new world to me and I'm still trying to get my head around it. Finally, ready for next year, we're planning on changing the Smart Car for a small trailer so we can tow Anne's Fiat 500C behind us when we venture overseas.... which has been our aim from the start. Hopefully, with all that done, she'll be ready to take us on our great adventure!

Anyway - that's all for now..... I hope that gives you a flavour of what we're about and if there's any other 'Visionaries' out there, we'd love to hear from you.

bfn!

Welcome.
Good to hear that you are enjoying your travels.
There is a train of thought that AGM’s are not the best leisure batteries.
Have you researched Lithium, much lighter and able to be discharged much lower or the other alternative of gel batteries.
Good luck.

Welcome to the Fun House. There is a section dedicated to Adrias on the forum, so you might pick up a few ideas in there?

PS - I would also suggest you consider getting lithium batteries instead, if you then add a suitable sized inverter, then you can use 240v appliances (kettle, microwave, toaster etc) when not on EHU
Also consider a B2B so you can charge the battery a lot quicker when travelling, that will give you more time off grid, when you get over into the EU, you will reap the benefits by being able to stop over at the thousands of (many free) off grid locations and still have the luxury of 240v

A welcome to the forum from the 'Diff.

Also an Adria owner.

Tend not to travel far and often avoiding being found Freedom Camping in the Brecon Beacons.

Have Fun.

Welcome, as others have said have a think about Lithium before changing your batteries. If you ask a question regarding them you’ll get very helpful replies and some not so helpful 😂😂, certainly worth considering though.

Hello Roger and Anne :welcome3:

You seem to be getting on well with your Adria and identifying all the things that you need. Enjoy your travels!

Hope you enjoy your upcoming adventures.

If you are renewing batteries, have you considered Lithium ?
Hi Sheddy. I did consider Lithium, but I'm still a little concerned about the reports of fire. I know it's mostly e-bikes and skateboards in the news, and generally down to the use of the wrong charger, but, being a newbie, it's not something I'd be comfortable with at the moment. The main issue is that the Electrobloc and control panel in the Vision, like other motorhomes, automatically looks after everything electrical. Automation is good! - it makes life easier :). Being an older Adria (2008), the Elctrobloc only has the option of switching between Lead/Acid or Gel. There's no Lithium option. Being a newbie, the idea of the wholesale replacement of the charging system was a step too far, so I just went for VRLA AGM for the time being. Being delivered this weekend! Gel is still an option for the future though but I'm not convinced that the benefit over VRLA AGM warrants the much higher price.

Hi MisterB. I posted an reply to Sheddy on the Lithium question, but you also mention a B2B. This is all new to me. I'll take a closer look at B2B - it sounds interesting. I bought a small 300W inverter but haven't tried it yet. Waiting until the new batteries are installed. The current battery is on it's last legs :-( .

Freedom camping? We've got a lot to learn :) .

Wellcome from another Vision owner, albeit a i707SG, great vehicles I’m sure you won’t be disappointed,
I’ve had mine since 2010 so I’m quite familiar with her workings so if you need any information just PM me,

Aa an example, we have a 304Ah Fogstar lithium and a 3000W Renogy inverter. We rarely use gas and can stay 'off grid' at the same location for around four days with very little solar BUT extensive use of 240v for cooking etc

Other Funsters have bigger and better 'stuff', so do some research before committing

NZ, I think, term for Wild Camping, sometimes referred to FLT, Free Loading Tossers, which, as you miight reason, camping is the 'Wild' quiet carparks, layby's or semi wild;

That's lithium for other devices (Li-ion), lithium batteries for vans have a different chemical composition (LiFePo4), much stable and safer.
Welcome :giggle:
