Newbie electrical issues

Am not in any way good with lekky but running your van with an appropriately connected charging circuit from the engine is good and will not fry your battery or set fire to anything - if you're running your fridge off the 12 volt battery setting then it'll be hard to persuade the icebox to approach ice unless you're running for several hours.

My good condition ordinary battery does lighting and basic USB for 3 days after about 250km.

I read an Aussie blog (megalife - which I am not being paid or anything else to promote) about charging these batteries from the mains - maybe we should all be thinking about solar given that gas and electric are going to become much more expensive in the very near future?

What are anyone else's built-in or manufactured lithium experiences?

Why use a generator to boil a kettle, it will cost much more in petrol than using gas and gas won't annoy anyone else with generator noise.

I say it was the kettle, it was actually my tassimo coffee machine lol ! We do have a gas whistling kettle which i did end up using. Our generator/inverter is very quiet, just a low humming sound but at Motocross tracks a generator is definitely one of the quietest things on site lol!

Could you plug in the temporary new battery charger into the vans internal mains supply socket ,that you use for your coffee machine etc , when on mains EHU for battery charging instead of removing the new chargers plug ? using a extension if needed .( Unless the internal sockets are also2 x pin )

Yes I could do that! And just leave the lead that goes under the seat unplugged from the mcb until my refurbished unit arrives back from Apuljack.

Good idea mate

Fitted this charger a couple of years ago, only £80. Multi stage and includes a gel setting 👌

So bought one of these wee boys. Seems a good job. By any chance do any of you know if the platinum leisure battery plus LB6110L is a gel, agm or wet battery so I know what setting to put the wee charger at? There is no info on their website.

I would say It is a plain WET battery.

It’s wet lead, but sealed. If you can see the cell caps for toping up, it’s a wet setting, if sealed (valve regulated) then sealed setting to prevent dry out.

There is no sealed setting on the wee charger, It just has gel, AGM and wet. I charged it up using wet last night and it got up to stage 7 within a few hours so think wet is probably the correct setting.

Agm IS sealed and valve regulated.

Yeah i just fired Platinum an email and they came back and said it is a sealed wet battery. Thanks again guys and apologies for the newbie questions. I just dont want anything to go wrong and make sure i have my head round everything in the van prior to our week away next week.
