New Zealand or Bust

It would be a shame to miss Napier. It’s a lovely town with some of the best Art Deco architecture of anywhere in the world. Can you take a different route and come back after the weekend?
Good advice , nothing like it anywhere else ? Hasting also worth a visit

We have a ferry South on Monday and wanted to do West and Waitomo glow worm caves on the way back North and again we only have a few days to get up to Auckland. We will go and see how rammed it is and possibly head to Hastings if it’s a no go.

Just extend it Martin, life is too short otherwise

The ferry is flexible but not the flights home as the Palace MOT is booked for when we get back😏 yes we could extend North Island but might then run out of time on the South, next year🤔

There is a large seal colony at Kaikoura which are not too bother about humans gorping at them as long as you don’t get to close.

Had a look around the car collection and Bernie's Diner before having lunch at the Kaikoura Seafood BBQ Kiosk.

Hopefully a productive day today, walked in to Taupo and along the lakefront, had lunch and then found a hardware store for some bits and bobs, treated myself to a screwdriver and a few 90 deg steel brackets and screws so microwave out and reinforced the bit that’s falling apart, fixed the bed base where there were screws that had never even been screwed into the wood😮 removed the extract fan over the hob and hopefully stopped that rattling and purchased some anti slip matting for the pan drawers etc, quite looking forward to moving tomorrow 🤔 if it’s no better I could be suicidal though, last job is let some air out of the tyres as I am sure they are too high but that can wait till we next fill with fuel.

Golf with a difference, drive from the prom and hit one of the three holes floating out in the bay, 10k NZ$ first prize, some poor bugger is skimming around in a wet suit with a crash helmet on picking the balls from the lake bed.

Up to you of course, but the motorhome Mot is very easy to move, and changing the flights would be a lot cheaper and easier than travelling all that way again.

Interesting that some of the cars are lhd. Wonder if they've only ever been museum pieces?

This is left hand drive Jon and there was another one on site as well last night, yellow with a brown hood looked lovely, my guess is they are heading to Napier for the Art Deco festival.

To be fair I think it doesn’t matter how long you are out here there will always be something left for a next time 😏

Asfaik you can temporarily import for up to 12 months but you can't fully import without converting. Prepared to be corrected though.

There are a lot of Yank and Yank classics over here that have been imported from the States, and almost all of Bernie's cars are Yank left hookers, along with his other warehouse full of American classics.
Here are a few of the Yank tanks that we have seen that appear to be in daily use over here.

Without doubt , without going there you cannot realise what damage a massive earthquake can cause if i remember correctly the ground lifted metres . Different i know but i know a friend who went to cairns/port Douglas but didnt go out to great barrier reef because he classed it as too expensive !!!!
