When we arrived in NZ we stopped with some friends and photo copied
some pages out of their NZMCA book to use, very helpful but we always wondered if we were in exactly the right place as we were nearly always on our own!

Hi again, if you go to Moreaki to see the boulders, have a walk up to the old whalers look out point, fantastic views.
Also not to be missed if you are into Fish and Sea Food is the famous restaurant in an old whaling shed, Fleurs Place. Well worth a visit and a meal, we had a full blue cod to share and was fantastic, with a few glasses of New Zealand wine!!

Another vote for Arthers Pass and Milford Sound.
In fact just drive round like we did with a map and guide Book, and get lost in the beautiful scenery of the South Island, you cannot go wrong.
Just keep the fuel tank full when you can.

Ive been looking again at NZMCA and wondering whether we re going to get enough benefit from it?

It claims to offer discounts on the ferries and on campsites but it cost £80. This seems a lot for 4 weeks, or am I missing something?

We like to use aires or wildcamp as much as possible, (this seems reasonably possible on South Island) because we like a nice view. Or do NZ campsites deliver views? Too many UK campsites hide behind walls and hedges IMO.
