Rally Chat New Year Meet Cotswold Area

We are setting off tomorrow morning so will see everyone in the afternoon. Already confirmed menu choice with the Harvester

First time we will have used our motorhome in minus degree conditions and I know that our heater system dumps the water when it gets to I think 5 degrees. I presume that it only does that when not being used. Anyway in view of that fact we are thinking of travelling without water on board and then watering up once we get there. Does this sound the right thing to do and does anybody else have the same thing with their heating system?

Yes, our heater dumps at 3 degrees, but if the heating is on, it won't happen. With the heater inboard it should not happen en route either

We are putting some water in the van but not the full 130 litres. However we have a fiamma 23 litre container on wheels and a submersible 12v pump with long lead and will fill when there. You are welcome to borrow it if you need it. Look for the Pilote A class and the people with a duck obsession

Aah thank you, we will look out for you. We are in a Laika Ecovip. It all makes me a little nervous this heating system although I am sure it will be ok. Think we will travel without water to be sure. It is minus 5 degrees here at the moment in Wiltshire!

It won't be a problem.... We do only arrive tomorrow, though

We don't arrive until tomorrow either so will see what happens when we get there. We will look for a service point and water up from there if we get there before you. Just been to get a new gas bottle so know we won't go cold. Have a safe journey and see you tomorrow:xThumb:

Briarfields has a motorhome service point with drive-over grey waste dump & a fresh water tap. So long as you have a hose pipe, which doesn't need to be very long, it's an easy fill. They will show you where it is if you ask at reception when you check in.

It is down a bit of a cul-de-sac, so you either have to reverse up to it, or reverse out. My water fill point is on the driver's side (RHD) & my grey waste drain is off-centre towards the left, so it works best if I reverse in. That suits the way you approach it too, so I would reverse in for preference.

We have a 30 m hose and a 10m hose (food grade) and numerous connectors etc we are in the tiffin allegro (reg letters rcl) you are welcome to borrow it and it may reach from your pitch if this helps

Thanks everyone, we will see you all tomorrow!

Hope you all have a great time:party2: Shame that we couldn't make it but hope to meet/catch up again with some of you on Fun rallies in 2015:xgrin:

Having just returned from a Christmas trip, we found when we filled up and put on the pump, it fused and also found a leak on the shower tap, so it was back to good old water bottles and washing up in the communal area !
We have decided, like you, not to put water in the tank and use it as when necessary. See you are from our neck of the woods !

Sorry you couldn't make it CB hope your situation is sorted soon. :xThumb:

See you all on Wednesday folks.... Shall I bring cake ?? :xgrin::xgrin:

Yes, been away over xmas in the motorhome and came back yesterday. Checked the motorhome this morning to come down to Cheltenham and the water heater had dumped the water. Our heater dumps at 3c, mind you it was -5c last night where we live. Had to put the heat on when we got here before I could get the dump valve to reset.

Ok we are here on pitch 29 anyone about to help us as we can't get our heater drain to close so therefore no heating or water as it will just run water out!:(

Don't have that system ourselves but reading fun last night somebody said you can warm the van with blown air without water in the boiler side and then the valve will stay closed, even warm the valve a bit with a hair dryer or heater.

See you later pitch 76.

Hi all, we will be arriving tomorrow. It is still really cold and icy where we are and not sure if we want to risk placing water in the tank ?!! Will bring extra bottled water with us 'cause not sure if our van does that 'dumping thingy'. If there is anything we can bring/do, shout
