After much searching and opening/closing of cupboard doors we have today ordered our 1st motor home. We have picked an adria choral, dealer had it on order and was discounted we are told delivery from factory in 2-4 weeks.
Question is what dealer fit options we should pick/need. We are going to van blitz for alarm and tracker but what to go for from the dealer? Solar panel £600, tv £650, refill gas and 2 bottles £800 looks like the cost soon gets out of control. So what do I need from the dealer and what is best to add later?

I would definitely let Van Blitz quote for all the items you have listed. You will get quality work and save hassle. No connection with Van Bitz, just a happy customer.
Cheers
Bernie
I was about to write this.
But you have done it for me

VanBitz for:
  • Alarm
  • Tracker
  • Immobiliser
  • Solar panel
  • Battery master
  • Gaslow (If you are likely to travel abroad for more than 2 weeks)
  • Wifi
And ask VanBitz to quote or recommend anything else you want.

The very last people I'd be asking to do upgrades of any sort is the dealer.
Go to experts in each case.

You kept that a secret 😂 nice looking van and should give you a lot more room.
Not a done deal yet Gerry 🙄 the discounts at the motorhome show were good but part exchange prices were abysmal, I contacted a certain broker but never got a reply ( I think the broker was busy treating another funster badly 🤬 ) as we are booked on LeShuttle Dec 8th for our 90 days it didn’t give us much time, we’ll hopefully do a deal before next years winter break 😁

Lots of good advice given. Easy to throw extra £1000s at it and still not be happy. Ask the questions…Why do I need solar/Lithium. Why do I need refillable gas bottles? Etc etc. If there’s a need then fit them if not don’t. We are all different so our needs are different. Of course if money is no problem….Fit everything and the only worry you have then is weight!

Regarding the TV question ...
About eight years ago, we bought a 'not smart' Avtex TV/DVD for our then motorhome. We also bought a Maxview satellite dish and tripod, plus a couple of aerials with suction/magnetic bases. We spent a lot of time fruitlessly faffing around with this kit. Since we bought our PVC, the satellite dish and aerials have all stayed at home. We now use the Avtex with a Roku TV stick on the rare occasions when we can be bothered to watch TV. Occasionally we may watch a DVD (usually Open All Hours, Porridge, Dad's Army, etc).

I would just get the security done for the first year and over the first year decide what you really need . Most folk have got stuff in their garages and sheds and wonder why they ever bought them in the first place. For example if you prefer to spend your time on campsites then lithium solar and all the other gear is a waste of money. We can make a 13 kg cylinder last 2 years.

hi i have not long bought a new motorhome ,the dealer offered to fit all the extras ,,but they were all more expensive than getting it done by local company ,,even up plating they wanted double what vw engineering were taking ,,check how much you could save elsewhere

New van arrived at the dealers today after me voicing concerns over payload they took the van to a weigh bridge and it came in at 3100 kg. This is giving me 550kg to play with for the two of us. Can this work for us with maybe up plating later on. We are not adding any extra weight to the van in the form of batteries or solar just alarm and tracker.

If that was an empty van you should be ok. 2 adults 170kg
Water 90kg , fuel 60kg, gas 30kg. These are rough figures, could be more. That's 350kg. Leaving another 200kg for anything else.

I'm going to Vanbitz when my Malibu van arrives. For a Raptor alarm and off-grid solar system. They have fantastic reviews.

One thing I think you need though is a fire extinguisher. I got one from Argos. Hopefully it will be unlikely that I have to use it. But with the van wrong side of £100k I didn't hesitate in buying one. Can't be too careful.

Good luck with your new van.
