New rules for Mazzaron area of Spain

So how do the police measure the distance from where your parked to the nearest campsite and how are motorists informed they are within 5Km of a campsite. For me it does not add up. Surely if its illegal to park within 5 Km of a campsite the motorists needs to know when he is parking his vehicle that it would be illegally parked. \A shit load of signs on every street/road within a 5 Km radiuus of each campsite would be required.:rofl::rofl:
Internet site searchers,,Park4theNight,Campercontact etc.BUSBY.

Wheres the new camper stop please

Tam, that's OK if a motorhome is parked legally, within a marked space or on an unmarked, official, parking area.

The problems are with huge numbers of motorhomes parking together, not always following the rules.

A friend has just been on one parking area in the Mazarron region and estimated 140 motorhomes parked there (normally 30-40 at any one time). This brings it to the attention of the authorities, hence the new regulations.

Some of the problems have come from conflict between a guy setting up a overnight area near a famous beach which has caused the locals to meet with the Council of Mazarron....the turning of a blind eye to this ever increasing overcrowding is about to be reviewed, hence the directive.
Regarding the 5km ruling, it would be virtually impossible to be this far from a campsite, official motorhome parking or other forbidden areas outlined in this release, so the council have got that well covered.
Living fairly close to Puerto de Mararron, which is our nearest coastline I can fully understand why action like this is needed, the whole situation has got out of hand, just too many motorhomes, huge numbers of Germans, Dutch and French visitors, and before anyone says they are adding to the economy, some of these visitors are encamped for months on end, not anywhere near the bars and restaurants, however Lidl and Aldi do well on most days.
On a plus side, the construction of more camperstops is helping, the new one between Mazarron and the Port is seen to be very popular, another just a few kms away appears to have work in progress....
So what happens when the Police arrive and move motorhomes from Mazarron, well the simple answer is they leave and overcrowd a neighbouring Municipility, like Cartagena, who have themselves a huge problem to deal with....the policing of these situations is maintained at local level so job done.....I must add that this situation is mainly coastal, go inland and its totally different.....or is it? Motorhoming popularity is becoming a problem which will force councils and police to apply laws that we will have to comply with or face being fined...

We were at Bolnuevo three days ago (in the Stalag there)

I did note on my amblings that, at the right side of the huge 'parking' area near the eroded rocks
there was an area approx. 50mts. x 50mts that was delineated by long lengths of wooden planking. (Easily 'driveoverable'?)
For one moment I thought someone in the locale had had a flash of 'Common Sense' in making an area for Motorhomes to park up
but I had a quick lie down in a darkened room and realised I was thinking stupid thoughts. At the time, three campers had made the first initial thought I had and had parked there.

I am aware that there are signs towards the rear of this huge area prohibiting motorhomes from parking
but with my Old Job head on, I found the placement of the signs to be curious.
One could drive off the road and park up and one would not have come across the prohibition signs whatsoever.

Had the signs been placed roadside, the prohibition would be obvious.

Further, I think I'm right in saying that there are two campsites and a Camperpark in the Mazzaron area. From my own experience, the 600 pitch site at Bolnuevo is invariably full. If that site had spaces on a regular basis I could understand the frustration of the management but put simply, they are raking it in and this 'New' piece of legislation is counterproductive. Mazzaron needs more facilities not more tubthumping.
We usually find a space at Bolnuevo-mind you we go down in late October/November and are usually only there for 7-10 days. Haven’t been down for 3 years so no idea what its like now.

You mean this sign 😁.

The sign would appear to be somewhat ambiguous. At the top "No tents or caravans" At the bottom "caravans & motorhomes - what?"

I don't know about Spain but I used to live in Turkey. They don't spend money on such things. The campsite would be less than 5km if the polieman said it was. No measuring required. The responsibility of knowing where the campsites are would be yours, no signs required. You would have the option of taking your case to court if you wanted to contest your fine, but who would?

Yes & why they have always parked over the road on the waste ground.

The Germans have the job sussed.they have been buying unbuildable , 1000m + agricultural land between them & they can then park when they want. They have one back from the beach as you enter Calabardina,

Crikey Richard...have they left Denia and moved further south....where next....are we safe... I'll rally the lads later...we have to protect Spain.....🤔🇪🇦😀

Something must be lost in the translation ... how can any MH park more than 100m away from roads?????
On rough ground, gained by going on tracked or trackless routes....similar to leaving surfaced roads as per..... UK Road Traffic Act..if still in force...

We have lots of rules and the Spanish are always fighting against them, you can park as you would a car for 48 hours providing it's not a natural park on the beach or signs prohibited from doing so, there has been many pi$$ed off motorhomers lately moaning about foreigners breaking the rules, that think rules don't apply to them. 🙂

Would this Bulgarian do this at home. 🙄 Bob.

Taking the p!$$ springs to mind that's not just "parking".

I think it although it says Parking it really means no overnight sleeping in the MH I could be wrong. I live near Mazarron and more often than not use my Campervan To go shopping and lunch in the port. Generally in Spain you can park anywhere where parking is allowed without opening windows using steps hanging washing etc, but this is being widely abused so new laws are being created. A similar law was brought in for Aquilas a few years back.

There have always been loads of them with small plots of land around here, up towards the dam, off the dual carriageway going to Âguilas .

having said that it isn't much different to the artics parking up with similar aerials +the washing out.

Where I saw the 30 odd at the Bella vista end beach on saturday if the motorhomes aren't there , & the signs are there to forbid them ,then the artics, with no prohibition on them, park up for the wekend & do their washing, etc.:giggle:

So what happens if one re-registers one's MH as category NI, fits a Tacho? I have a Tacho card.

That's my thought too otherwise you wouldn't be able to go for a meal, shop, go to the beach etc.

Well Geoff I would like to offer an answer...but to be perfectly honest, I don't understand your question....forgive me I'm a poor peasant residing in Iberia having been educated in the UK....:giggle:

Just thought I'd throw in a couple of YouTube links to a couple who have just spent Christmas and New Year on Playa Mazzaron site.

Quite a down to earth couple who's winter trip I have been enjoying vicariously.

The bottom sign means no stopping for any reason for motorhomes and caravans.
I think 1 crossed line means no waiting and not no stopping. So can can stop and get put ar load something but cannot leave the vehicle unattended or without a driver present.
