New rule to me

It's normal site etiquette that habitation doors shouldn't face each other so that everyone has privacy. I would hate to be sitting facing the family from hell on the next pitch, I'd sooner be at home. We go to a site 4 or 5 times a year where we face my brother in law on the neighboring pitch through choice. The site owners have no issues with it.
It will have nothing to do with electric bollards. ;)

I always ask if they require me to pitch facing in a particular way, most say either way as long as the hab door is in the centre of the pitch. I think if you're on an awning pitch at CAMC they will require you to pitch facing so that the awning is in the alloted space for it.
Never had that, they've always said park it whichever way round you want.

Thinking about it, one small site in Cornwall insist you park nose out so everyone can get out easily in an emergency.
That is how they do it here on the island, and for that same reason. However, not everyone adheres to it and it seems it is not strictly enforced either.

If it was site etiquette the CAMC would be the first to say so, they love rules. If it ever was etiquette it is long gone on most sites, thank goodness. The published CAMC rules say -
“b. On most pitches, outfits may be pitched nose or tail in. Site staff will advise guests where their outfit should go in relation to the pitch marker(s). If guests wish to pitch in any other way please ask site staff.”
I agree it is nothing to do with bollards. Frankly privacy is something you are unlikely to get when pitched 6m apart, I opt for CLs and CSs when I want more space.

They know their business and it's an excellent site.

They must have a reason for it.

And why Hitler has to be mentioned whenever someone is doing their job I just don't know.

There were - maybe still are, some larger motorhomes and caravans which had habiation doors on both sides, that may throw a spanner into the rule book works.

If two vans are 6m apart on their correct pitch markers and had habitation doors facing each other you would both be sharing the same 6m space with no privacy. It would be like having another family in your living room :whistle2:
If both vans had their habitation doors in the configuration I suggested we would both have our own 6m space and the maximum possible privacy.

6m apart ......😱

That's like an adjacent campsite in the UK and a different continent apart in Europe 🤣🤣

Parked up on a site . Nose facing off the pitch and european van so door on the drivers side same side as the electric bollard. Cant park like that, cant have exit door on same side of electric bollard.
Had to move. 2 minutes no problem glad not a tugger with awning etc.
What a load of tennis ball Wherewas this asI would like to book a pitch.

We pitch depending on the pitch - which way is best for getting level, which way is the best view. No problem on any CAMC or CCC site of CL. Booked with Haven and they had some weird rules about either european or continental vans - cant remember what they called them. In the small print it said something about not accepting them, but it was very confusing them. I contacted them by email and on the phone. They gave me some nonsense about which side the power inlet was. (ours is on the near side with the hab door on the offside). Didnt make any sense to me because unless the electric post is a long way from the van there is plenty of cable and any spare goes under the van.
I have seen reports of few private sites where vans with offside doors have to park nose in. In one case this means that you would be facing away from the lake. There is another private site that wont accept "foreign" vans. By which they mean vans with off side hab doors. I just dont get it. If you are on a normal camping site with reasonable pitches I simply dont understand the "no hab doors facing each other". I dont see where my privacy is compromised. I can the other van out of the window. If th weather is nice enough to have windows/doors open i can hear next door any way. And as for sitting out - I sit which ever side of the van (of four sides) suits me - do I want to see what''s going on, do I want to sit in the sun, do I want to sit in the shade?
I just dont recognise any particular pitching direction as "good etiquette".

But there’s no point to it in Europe when you have the French and Germans walking through your pitch anyway….😆😂

They walk so close to my open door here that I say come in…🤣😂😎

Yes but did they do the walk…..

I’ve had a many conversations with Germans who I’ve told that I’m half German but I got rid of the German half as I can’t do the goose step anymore…😆😂
