Rally NEW Polmanter Touring Park & St Ives September Festival Meet, Cornwall 2025 * Booking open PYO best pitch*

Would have been interested but a bit too much of a 350+ mile 6+ hour trek from the Lincoln show.
That is a bit of a trek but being a meet rather than a rally there is some flexibility with arrival & departure days plus extending at the same discounted rate (all booking direct with the Park) so possible to join a bit later stopping off en route making it a bit of a tour - there are many lovely places to visit once down that way with St Ives being the highlight imo :giggle:

UPDATE

Whilst the core Meet dates are as above the discount code will also apply to a couple of days either side when booking online so long as 5 nights or more are booked plus for an extended stay it should be possible to arrange this by phone at the same discounted rate which should help those coming from other events. Booking will open as soon as the discount code is set up with everyone being able to choose the type & location of their pitch. There's an excellent tool here https://www.makeamap.co/map/54f4c01880110ec870407bad/home so you can see each pitch & the outlook by clicking on the pitches.
When booking online (easier on the Book function https://www.polmanter.com/stay/ than via the map above) once you pick your dates, motorhome size & number of nights, then pitch type, all the available pitch numbers will show so easy to pick your favourite (y) I've been trying dummy bookings to pick ours so ready for when the discount code is available :)

With this being the first time for this Meet it's evolving as we go along!

Booking is likely to open soon for this one so to have the the best choice of pitches (everyone can pick their own (y)) please can anyone considering this (this thread had had over 1000 views so far!) let me know so all can be alerted at the same time. Pitches aren't held for us so any could get booked up hence need to book asap for fullest choice.

We can't wait to stay at Polmanter Touring Park https://www.polmanter.com/ this September & would love to have some fellow Funsters join us too! :hi5: It'll be our first time staying there but it's award winning, has great facilities & excellent reviews so coupled with being within walking distance of fabulous St Ives we think it should be great.
The Park have kindly agreed to a £5 per night reduction on their normal rates as well as no extra charges for bringing along up to 2 dogs for this Meet - this applies to 5, 6 or 7 night stays with starting date Monday 22 September making rates £26.50 per night for Electric Grass, £29 per night for Electric Hardstanding or Grass Multi-serviced, or £32.50 per night for Hard-standing Multi-serviced pitches after discount. No extra charges either for a tow car or attached awning but Quest Screenhouses or similar are not to be used.

There should be the opportunity for us to gather in the daytime (when no food or drink is served) in the Stable Bar & to have a reserved area in the Bar for drinks together in the evenings if wanted - of course as always there is no obligation to join in.
Whilst some may wish to relax on the Park or explore by car, it's a 30 minute 1.5 mile pleasant downhill walk into St Ives via a footpath at the back of the Park (to Steeple Lane) with the option for a taxi back if walking back up doesn't appeal at the end of the day. Once down in the town of St Ives there are lots of places to visit including the Tate Art Gallery (many free entry galleries too), Barbara Hepworth's Museum & Sculpture Garden in her former home, Leach Pottery, St Ives Museum, pleasant shopping in the historic cobbled streets with lots of tempting food & drink establishments, walk on the 7 beaches or just enjoy a coffee sat looking over the harbour or sea. We've explored St Ives many times & even in the depths of winter it has been enjoyable so hoping it's even better in September.
There are regular buses from the Malakoff https://www.google.com/maps/place/Malakoff+bus+station/@50.211025,-5.4813349,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x486add5c85a4046d:0x78842a32e6656582!8m2!3d50.211025!4d-5.47876!16s/g/11rsptfs4_?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDMyNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw== & a good train service just below there for scenic journeys to explore further afield to nearby Carbis Bay beach (walkable too), Penzance, Truro & a favourite of ours (bit more of a journey) Falmouth including Pendennis Castle (EH) & the Maritime Museum.

** UPDATE - schedule for the private shuttle bus service from the Park to St Ives town https://royalbuses.co.uk/bus-timetables-st-ives/bus-service-st-ives-to-polmanter-camp-site/ shows there will be a limited chargeable service for the Monday-Friday of the Meet dates - waiting on cost but this should enable more to join us all 🚌 ***

If you may wish to book at the Fun discounted rates for this Meet then please post here as "Interested" with the type of pitch you'd like & for how many nights then I'll PM with how to book
- still sorting what will work best payment wise with the Park & working out the best area for pitch types wanted - they all look great though & there are three facilities blocks too!

When viewing the video please note that at this off peak time of year the pool is not open but the Stable Bar will be open nightly serving a full food/drink menu - it is one of the best times of the year to visit St Ives without all the crowds.

Have spotted a few things that may be helpful when considering Polmanter Touring Park - will post them as & when time allows:

1) For those who prefer to travel overnight when the roads are quiet there is the Arrivals Field which we are welcome to use from 2am onwards on the morning of arrival.
All new arrivals to park on this dedicated grass field near the entrance. This is about 200m from Reception.
what3words – early arrival parking area /// vitals.swim.wand
We can check in at Reception from 9am each morning. Pitches should be ready by 12.30pm.

Yes we would definitely like to come (fond memories of past family holidays). 5 nights (possibly 7) grass.

Good to hear that :) - have added you to the list on the first post - not essential but if you would like first names added then please just let me know.

2) Freshly baked bread 🍞 🥖 & croissants 🥐 can be pre-ordered the day before for next morning collection in addition to the range of essentials & treats stocked at the Park Shop

3) Whilst there is an onsite shop for a big shop we are welcome to have our shopping delivered to Polmanter so long as we meet the driver at the Arrivals Field (postcode TR26 3LX) as delivery trucks are not allowed beyond this.
Tesco, Sainsbury’s ASDA and Waitrose all deliver to St Ives (y) More info about this & the local supermarkets here https://www.polmanter.com/stocking-...*MTc0MzQxNDI2My4yNy4xLjE3NDM0MTUxMjkuMTcuMC4w

So it's ideal to arrive early morning, have a few hours sleep, get some washing done in the onsite launderette (opposite Reception) if coming from another event, have the shopping delivered then all ready to get pitched & relax!

Hi all , although we havent got a specific area has anyone any thoughts of trying to book pitches closeish to each other so we are not dotted all around the site?

We will be interested in this meet, to combine it with a swim event I want to do. I will check the dates aline and get back to you.

Update - this will work out very nicely. The swim event is in Carbis Bay on 14th September. I can feel an extended holiday coming on.

Currently all the Electric Grass & Electric Hardstanding pitches available to book are in the main central area (y) Once the discount code is set up on the Park booking system then we will book & post our pitch number, then as each Funster books you are welcome to also post your pitch number if you wish! If we are quick enough we should be able to be pitched near to each other but please bear in mind that we do not have a group of pitches held so it's first come first served & we need to book asap for the widest choice. Everyone will have their own preferences pitch location wise & not all may wish to be near fellow Funsters but that's ok too :) I'll have some Fun windscreen stickers, vehicle name plates & small badges so with these on show we can spot each other for impromptu chats but again none of this is compulsory as appreciate that some may wish to have a quiet time. We will arrange some gatherings in the Park's Stable Bar but all are welcome to meet up there every evening if buying drinks &/or food. Hope that reassures you that this will be a friendly, sociable experience for those that would like to mix - anyone that has been to our other meets at Highlands End & Norden Farm will be aware that Alan & I try to make everyone welcome, offer support when needed & do like a chat!

Waiting to hear back from another taxi firm for comparison but John & Mel of Chard Cars https://chardcars.co.uk/

Even better prices quoted by Georgia of A1 Cars St Ives https://www.a1carsstives.co.uk/

01736 797700 which is especially cost effective if a group of 8 (or 5 or more) club together:

"For Polmanter we do a fixed rate of £7.50 for a car and £10.50 for a bus if you are going to the center of St Ives, or to the Tate.
If you are wanting to be dropped at a specific location it is done by meter which is around £9.50 for a car and around £10.50 for a bus.
Our biggest taxis are 8 seaters.
Unfortunately, we don't have a wheelchair accessible car available at the moment, but we have plenty of room in the boots of all of our vehicles if it's a folding chair.
We accept card or cash, and you can pay the driver on the job."

* Don't forget there's also the shuttle bus to & from the Park Monday-Friday - full details on post #18 - so plenty of alternatives to walking *

Do you think they will extend that discounted rate to stretch from the 13th to the end of the meet, about 15 nights?
When it goes live shortly, the discount will apply to the Meet dates plus a few days either side when online booking. I'm waiting to find out if it may be possible to extend to more nights again after the Meet by booking over the phone. The week before the Meet is a considerably more expensive & busy period so they may not be able to offer any discount but there's no harm in giving them a call to find out what may be possible. Hopefully in the next day or two this will go live so suggest waiting until then to contact them if you can - those on the Interested List will be the first to be alerted & sent the booking discount code & details by PM.

UPDATE: For anyone who may want to join us all at this friendly meet :hi5: but haven't yet been in contact - please post soon to get on the Interested List - all on this List will be the first to be given the discount code so will have the best choice of the available pitches. No pitches are held for us & they do have a lesser promotion (£20 discount for 7 night bookings & dogs are chargeable) at the moment for regular customers so there could be a flurry of bookings that could at least reduce our options & the currently available central areas could sell out.

Aren't you tempted by this?!
Another fabulous, sandy beach at nearby Carbis Bay (taken in March last year)

5) Essential for many of us - WiFi - there's 750MB free every 24 hours per person per device so suitable for basic browsing or posting on Fun :active: Ideal for the group chat for the Meet (I'll set this up a few days before) so that those that wish to can keep in contact to arrange meet ups or share useful info when there.
There's also an optional chargeable data service for those who may want to stream so require more than this.

Interested in a grass pitch but just so you know there is a CCC club meet there 26-28 @ £15 pun inc EHU with BCC Cornwall.

I did query this with Polmanter Touring Park - this DA are paying £25.50 per grass pitch (booked last year) per night to the Park but the DA subsidises their weekend events so their members pay £15.
