We can't wait to stay at Polmanter Touring Park https://www.polmanter.com/ this September & would love to have some fellow Funsters join us too! :hi5: It'll be our first time staying there but it's award winning, has great facilities & excellent reviews so coupled with being within walking distance of fabulous St Ives we think it should be great.
The Park have kindly agreed to a £5 per night reduction on their normal rates as well as no extra charges for bringing along up to 2 dogs (saving an additional £27.50-£38.50 or more) for this Meet - this applies to 5, 6 or 7 night stays with starting date Monday 22 September making rates £26.50 per night for Electric Grass, £29 per night for Electric Hardstanding or Grass Multi-serviced, or £32.50 per night for Hard-standing Multi-serviced pitches after discount. No extra charges either for a tow car or attached awning but Quest Screenhouses or similar are not to be used.
UPDATE 30/3 - whilst the core meet dates are as above the discount code will also apply to a couple of days either side when booking online so long as 5 nights or more are booked plus for an extended stay it should be possible to arrange this by phone at the same discounted rate which should help those coming from other events. Booking will open as soon as the discount code is set up with everyone being able to choose the type & location of their pitch. There's an excellent tool here https://www.makeamap.co/map/54f4c01880110ec870407bad/home so you can see each pitch & the outlook by clicking on the pitches.

There should be the opportunity for us to gather in the daytime (when no food or drink is served) in the Stable Bar & to have a reserved area in the Bar for drinks together in the evenings if wanted - of course as always there is no obligation to join in.
Whilst some may wish to relax on the Park or explore by car, it's a 30 minute 1.5 mile pleasant downhill walk into St Ives via a footpath at the back of the Park (to Steeple Lane) with the option for a taxi back if walking back up doesn't appeal at the end of the day. Once down in the town of St Ives there are lots of places to visit including the Tate Art Gallery (many free entry galleries too), Barbara Hepworth's Museum & Sculpture Garden in her former home, Leach Pottery, St Ives Museum, pleasant shopping in the historic cobbled streets with lots of tempting food & drink establishments, walk on the 7 beaches or just enjoy a coffee sat looking over the harbour or sea. We've explored St Ives many times & even in the depths of winter it has been enjoyable so hoping it's even better in September.
UPDATE: Just found there's a town Festival too https://www.stivesseptemberfestival.co.uk/ :dance2:
There are regular buses from the Malakoff https://www.google.com/maps/place/Malakoff+bus+station/@50.211025,-5.4813349,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x486add5c85a4046d:0x78842a32e6656582!8m2!3d50.211025!4d-5.47876!16s/g/11rsptfs4_?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDMyNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw== & a good train service just below there for scenic journeys to explore further afield to nearby Carbis Bay beach (walkable too), Penzance, Truro & a favourite of ours (bit more of a journey) Falmouth including Pendennis Castle (EH) & the Maritime Museum.

** UPDATE - schedule for the private shuttle bus service from the Park to St Ives town https://royalbuses.co.uk/bus-timetables-st-ives/bus-service-st-ives-to-polmanter-camp-site/ shows there will be a limited chargeable service for the Monday-Friday of the Meet dates - waiting on cost but this should enable more to join us all 🚌 ***

If you may wish to book at the Fun discounted rates for this Meet then please post here as "Interested" with the type of pitch you'd like & for how many nights then I'll PM with how to book.

When viewing the video please note that at this off peak time of year the pool is not open but the Stable Bar will be open nightly serving a full food/drink menu - it is one of the best times of the year to visit St Ives without all the crowds.

Thank you all for your interest so far in this new Meet :hi5:

carolyn Marie-Claire BobJayne Les Clivefog buzz1 please can you check the list on the first post & let me know any missing info:
  • number of nights (5, 6 or 7)
  • pitch type (Electric Grass, Electric Hardstanding, Grass Multi-serviced, Hard-standing Multi-serviced)
  • first names (if you wish but not essential!)
This will help the Park with allocating the most suitable area & give us an idea of how many pitches that can be accommodated for this Meet. There's no obligation at this point as still finalising details with the Park but wanted to get this going due to timescales...

Carolyn and Nick, electric hardstanding, probably 5. Thanks Karen. By the way we’ve just used the HAPPY code for 4 nights next weekend at Highlands End. Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you - list amended now (y) That is a good offer for Highlands End - have fun!

For anyone wondering about the HAPPY discount code - more details at the bottom of the first post here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...g-now-with-discount-code.318988/#post-6567818 - it's not a campsite that normally does such promotions so a rare opportunity.

It’s a nice site.

We stayed there about 15 years ago when the children were young.

Good facilities and I think a free courtesy bus into St Ives.

I hate ST Ives but the site is nice

Agree that St Ives can be awful in peak season & school holidays but that's just too many people obscuring the natural beauty there! We have had whole fabulous sandy beaches to ourselves in the winter & Spring. The private bus shuttle is chargeable but may only be in peak months - just waiting confirmation on this year's schedule.

What's not to love & this was last November! :inlove:

Great news :dance2:- the schedule for the private shuttle bus that runs from the Park to St Ives town has just been added https://royalbuses.co.uk/bus-timetables-st-ives/bus-service-st-ives-to-polmanter-camp-site/ will be running a limited chargeable service for the Monday - Friday of the Meet dates - waiting on costs (it was £2.50 one way or £4.70 return last year) but hopefully this should enable more to join us all ....... 🚌

"Polmanter’s dedicated bus service can take you straight into the centre of St Ives, cutting out any need to park in the town and beaches during busy periods. The bus leaves from the campsite entrance, (200m from Reception), and drops you in the town’s ‘Royal Square.’

what3words – Polmanter bus stop ///lines.pebbles.trophy
what3words – Royal Square, St Ives bus stop ///disco.info.lights

The bus has low-floor access, and accommodates dogs, wheelchairs and pushchairs (though at busy times you may find you need to collapse your pushchair to squeeze on unless you are early!)
If you need a wheelchair or pushchair-friendly taxi, we have details at Reception, or you can usually find one at the taxi rank in St Ives, next to the Royal Cinema and opposite the Royal Square bus stop

An up to date bus timetable is provided in our “What’s on” guide that you will receive at check-in, displayed at the bus stop and on Royal Buses website. "

Nice to have options although I get my bus pass this year!! Date to apply is the 7th April so I’m on countdown now.

Nice walk down but the walk back up is a killer🥵🥵🥵
Can be challenging at the beginning of the week but gets easier with practise, there are many different routes across the town with some less steep than others & don't have to rush - we stop to look at the view a lot :roflmto: There's also the option of the shuttle bus (full details above) or a taxi from the rank - do think it's worth the effort. There's the option of sharing larger taxis too if some want to group together.

Me too, I get mine in August. I haven’t looked but I’m not sure if the shuttle bus will take bus passes.

Would have been interested but a bit too much of a 350+ mile 6+ hour trek from the Lincoln show.

Don't think so - looks like it's a private hire contract but the public bus service running from the town / Malakoff does.

I doubt it. I just meant the shuttle bus is another option. I think the normal bus is a good service as well from Karen’s link.

Polmanter don't take RV's, just incase anyone on here with an RV was thinking of going.
We turned up a couple of years ago, and it was only because I had booked and told whoever I spoke to that we were an RV, that they reluctantly let's us on.
Don't know why they banned them as they have some pitches big enough to take them.
As already said it's a nice site, with good facilities.

Checking their T&C it does say "We are unable to accept bookings for large American-style motor homes" but looking at the booking system Fifth Wheels up to 9m can book & large motorhomes up to 9m.
