Yes you are correct just had a phone call of the fiat chap and he got it wrong he was quoting for a van it is indeed £850 but i will still take it out as I still think it's worth it

Thats what I said in the letter to them but in their reply they said that if they had covered my Motorhome then every Merc owner would want it and then Mercedes would have got all pissy!

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread but does anyone know what cover comes with a new ford motorhome. We are buying a new Chausson 627ga on the 17th of April and the dealer has said it comes with one years breakdown cover.

It is indeed worth it. Wish I had known about it when I got my Carthagi. As mentioned , within a few weeks of out if warranty I had a faulty gear box sensor. That bill would have covered a quarter of the extended warranty.

My new mh is coming from Chelston Motorhomes which is also Fiat Professional Approved so hopefully I will be able to sort out warranty/recovery extensions with them at handover.
We bought our Carthago new in 2017 from Chelstons, they are also "Fiat Approved service Agents", happy so far with the hab side of service, yet to see how how the Fiat side of things go as we have only done lowish mileage thus far.
Chelstons sales did not mention the availability of a an extended Fiat warranty to us, wish they had, as we would probably have taken it out, although an additional £850 might have been a bitter pill to swallow having written out a humongous cheque on the week of handover:eek:.
The response that we seem to hear a lot at shows and such like is "yea, well you will probably have changed the van before year 3 anyway, so why bother"
What do these guys think we are?....Lottery winners?:D2

Hi All

Can anyone please tell me if my new Fiat ducato A class based MH comes with any type of breakdown cover its a 19 plate if it does come with any Fiat recovery cover what type of cover is it and how long does it last 1 year 2 years ????

I was not told anything about breakdown cover by the dealer its just something my wife asked as her new golf came with 3 year breakdown cover by VW

If not who are the best people to get breakdown cover for covering europe (France, Belgium, Germany) we are 7.5 mts long and 4.5 tonne

Many Thanks

Reading the posts most has been covered off however I will go over my experience with the dealer

I purchased a new Hymer last year which is a story in itself but what it revealed was how these dealers operate.

Many are not Fiat professional or Mercedes dealers, in my case it was clear the head of sales did not have a clue about how to register a new vehicle with Fiat for warranty, it went from "Hymer will register it" "It will be registered once the DVLA have the documents. I was then advised to go and register it myself with a Fiat dealer. When Ipointed out if I needed a warranty claim in the extended period and had not been able to obtain it I would look to The dealer for compensation I was told not to be so aggressive.....I was mearly trying to get them to act to register the van for warranty.....which they failed to do

So I visited two Fiat professional dealers as far as they were concerned they could see the vehicle had been manufactured but had not been sold on their system and therefore could not start the warranty.

I contacted Mopar/Fiat I spoke with an amazing woman called Alexander Amanda who is in the Fiat call centre in Italy she co-ordinated both registering the Van on the fiat system and arranged for the extended warranty via Simon Potter.

Both Alexander and Simon where 100% professional with their help and advice I hope Simon doesn't mind me sharing his details but any issues registering your Fiat for warranty speak with Simon.

Once again I think this highlights how the motorhome dealers need to reflect on their service to customers, I do believe they want to do a great job but not understanding the warranty registration process means that some customers will be out there without even the standard 2 years, much of this will go noticed as most do low milage and will probably not need a warranty claim.

Have used Simon at Portsmouth Adam Morey for my servicing and gear box issues on the A class van. (A round trip of 200 miles) The company have substantial expertise working on them and understand all the difficulties when working around the engine area in the very very tight space available.

I have heard stories at Fun meets where A class owners have gone to Fiat professional for work on A class and they are just not interested as they in struggle completing any work in the allocated time frame for charging due to the problems of access.

Simon tells a story of an owner in the Channel islands coming over to him

@Coolcats Thanks for sharing details and all duly noted; reading their professional website they appear to be well worth a visit(y)
