New member actively searching for 1st Motorhome / Campervan

Hi all, new to this site, found it through Reddit.

Been looking for a Motorhome/camper for a few months now after catching the bug after hiring earlier this year, but finding the choice in my area quite limiting.

Looking forward to learning more and eventually finding our dream vehicle.

Good luck and enjoy looking around. I live in North Lincolnshire and mine is for sale but it depends on your budget, what layout you like, what spec you fancy - glitz or basic or somewhere in between.
I was lucky, got it right first time after 4 years of deliberations, rentals, visits around UK, Verona, Dusseldorf. Thoroughly enjoyed every trip.
70+ now and my husband can't drive it due to medical history - I can and do, he doesn't.
Take a 2hr trip south and come see it and visit dealers around here too.

Hi
We have just ordered our new MoHo #3 at the NEC, hopefully everything we need, selling 2018 Bailey Autograph 79.4i, pm me if interested, parked at Manchester

Hi Newkybroon, I’m also new to this site, but I post because 26 years ago we were in your position. We went to motorhome shows, looked at what was on offer but most importantly, having short-listed suitable vans we found the club areas on the showground and spoke with owners - sometimes at length.
We wanted a coach built on a Ford 2.5litre turbo of roundabout 6 metres in length.
A few months later we came across the exact model we had singled out and only two years old. The deal was done and we still have it now. Many times we have looked at new vans but have always been so thrilled to get back to our van because it is so good.
There have been replacement pumps, a water heater, taps, addition of an Eberspacher space heater, a solar panel, etc. over the years - a bit like Murphy’s axe all original except for...... and I have reupholstered it twice, had new bespoke mattresses made - as you do. But over the years, all much cheaper than changing the motorhome.
We lived in it in France for 9 months of the year for 13 years and it was fabulous.
I have had it serviced and MOT’d by the same young man throughout all 26 years (no quite as young now), he tells me never to get rid of it as they don’t make them like this anymore.
So - take your time, do your research, it is a big investment which will pay you back in spades with the pleasure it affords.
Good luck in your search.
Murphy's axe? You mean Trigger's broom surely? :giggle:

I think a 2018 will be out of our price range, but many thanks for the reply.

Thanks JRC, I’m going to look at a local MoHo this weekend so fingers crossed, but starting to realise going further afield may be the way forward if this doesn’t meet the grade. I’m also seeing a lot of scams online, so taking more time to do the research, even bought myself a damp meter just in case. Thankyou for the reply, I’m overwhelmed by the response I have from this community from a simple introduction 😀

Take your time, no rush. Enjoy the journey.
