Just catching up with my Spanish news and saw an article re the heading HERE Fortunately the article refers to 5 changes and says the text outlines what is classed as parking or camping, unfortunately the text is not linked to the article.

Ive always had difficulty navigating tge Spanish laws online but hopefully one of our members who lives in the Province can put us a link in to read what it says so we all know.

I recall some months ago Mazzarron introduced something similar but the way that article was written made out you couldn’t park anywhere without risk of the Police taking action, which clearly couldn’t be correct or how would you visit the supermarket to shop en route.

I think it's going to be a case of wait and see what they actually implement. Mazarron passed their own new regs early this year but did nothing about it. Maybe awaiting the regs for Murcia as a whole.

The main bugbears are the hundreds of motorhomes and camper vans that descend on the coastal regions in winter, some staying for the season.

We'll be very unhappy if they stop overnight parking in the whole of the region. We have, and like, our tiny favourite remote spots and will be sad to lose them.

If anyone was in the Murcia region last wintertime, they could have experienced the vast numbers the Region of Murcia had to contend with...OK, some might say it's because Morocco was closed and Portugal had their own restrictions...however every year the numbers increase... Virtually everyone has the same idea...go to Spain in the winter and enjoy the sunshine and unrestricted parking up..
What I read is...new restrictions on wild camping, campsites and camperstops will be more regulated..Camperstops have always been a grey area regarding regulations.
These new laws can be the used against the long stayers on places like La Azohia waste ground and various beach locations between Mazarron and Aguilas....at no time will anyone be restricted from visiting supermarket carparks to do there shopping.
As jumartoo has said...Mazarron passed a law last January...but due to the vast numbers of freecampers in this Municipality, I believe it was too much for them to enforce, with the Regional government taking the lead greater law enforcement officials will be at hand to control ...

Just think of the hundred or more vans parked on the car park in la Azohia, where do they empty the toilets, yes you see after dark lots of men, yes normally men taking their cassettes to a drain. And as for Aguilas, especially on Playa Carolina, last year, a large hippy commune started and got bigger and bigger and messier, I dread to think of the sanitary situation, and the mess they left. We can see over the last few weeks more Motorhomes arriving in the Mazaron area. We shall just wait and see how the police manage it.

And the long stay set ups between Bolnuevo and Percheles. You can smell a certain aroma when you go past them!

Being someone that lives in Spain and free parks, in recent years Javea was a small coastal town invaded by 150 motorhomes at times, various nationalities some staying 3 or more months on future building plots without facilities. 🙄
I have seen that amount moved in one or two hours after it was found they were tipping cassette contents down the wrong manhole. 🤔

On our visit this week to the campsite to spend time with Red Sonja and Kevin the Italian neighbour on the next pitch said he was going to park on the beach tomorrow and free camp with the other dozen or more, I said they won't be there tomorrow they will move them, he didn't go because sure enough they were moved. 😁
Rule 1 if there's a sign forbidding motorhomes/ autocaravanas you get moved if your lucky and fined if not. 🤔

We don't put chairs out we do open windows and that's classed as camping we are also lucky to have a woosh bang door. 😎
We try to park away from others, in areas without restrictions and not causing problems for the locals and only stop a day or two and move on. 😁

You cannot park on beaches they come under the costas or in national parks and protected areas or anywhere with signs forbidding motorhomes, if marked bays you must be between the lines. 🙂

You can park on any road or car park providing there's no restrictions or your causing obstruction for 48 hours (2 days ) some are 24 and the police will tell you to go if that's the case, you can't carry out camping activities or dump waste, if you want to do that use a campsite or camperstops. 😎

Even though we free park, Javea is a better place to be with the new rules, the locals are happy and even though everyone free camping said the restaurants need or money to survive 😉 they are still here and the ones that stay open all winter have customers, we have been here every winter since 2007 and it's the same in winter as it's always been, in fact probably more people about as the other European's have taken over many properties that were previously Spanish holiday homes only previous used in August and holiday weekends. 😎 Bob.

That cheeky Dutch 888888 who put cones out on the building plot to stop anyone parking too close to him. Stayed there for months

We are in Caravaca Camperstop...only 13 places...but greatly reduced by a German Motorhome occupying 4 places....it was made difficult for new arrivals to find a spot.
I had no option other than send a message to the Police Local to ask them who enforces the rules..I await a visit or a suitable response..

unfortunatley its human nature to take the proverbial. Many restrictive rules and laws come about because people will push and push what are often rules or allowances put together for a good reason.

Am going to Spain for 1st time in a couple of weeks. Even so, from Santander to Beni I will look for a camp site to stay overnight.

If it were me I would likely go via Zaragoza and stay at the campsite in that city, although electric will be expensive. Or alternatively go via Aranjuez (Madrid) and stay at the ACSI site there. All depends on your arrival time BikerGraham. Burgos is closer and has a good campsite too but your pretty high up there so maybe cold.

Thanks mate

Was thinking about Zaragoza. Think the ferry gets into Santander around 08:00 so should get there in good time. 👍👍

The network of both private and public Camperstops are worth checking out when making plans, where to go, if delayed, etc...Park4Night....however if Campsites are your prime choice, you will find the ones open to be very quiet indeed..Safe travels...

It amazes me how many people will spend £60,000 on a MOHO but don't want to pay £10 for a site 🤔
Somewhat dodgy logic. The motorhome (which may cost a lot less than that) will be a capital purchase from savings etc. Site fees are from income and as many on here are pensioners could easily exceed 50% of the old age pension.

We intended to spend the winter in Spain or Portuga when we retired but unfortunately caring duties have prevented that so far. We didn't plan on taking the van, out of season flats are about €300 a month to rent and it saves the hassle of driving the van down. We did look and if you do take the MOHO a site is about the same price. We only have pension income but we can afford that, we can't find £60,000 for a MOHO though 🙂

Currently in Alcossebre near Castellon and all the beachside wild spots have no camping signs up denoting campers, caravans and tents.

The sign also says it applies to the municipality.

I am parked in a side street next to the timeshare apartment I am in this week! A note in the window says where I can be found if the police want me to move. So far no problems since Saturday. We move on this Saturday.

Before I joined this sainted bunch and bought a Moho I was appalled at the cheek by jowel parking of motorhomes at every opportunity. Free? Get as many parked as possible!!

My partner taught English at the Uni in Murcia for three years. It meant on my regular visits that rides out on her XJ900 to the coast anywhere from Torrevieja to Cabo de Gatos was a nightmare. Wall to wall white boxes taking up every inch...

If the region or local governments provide alternatives it seems the right thing to do.

Just my penny worth.

I used the autocaravana parking behind Thader & opposite IKEA yesterday so as to use the tram to get to an appointment in town. There was only about 2 dozen on there, room for 80, but bloke in front was running a gennie, & the wife commented on the bloke in nothing but shorts in the row behind sitting out sunbathing :giggle:with chair & table, non of which are allowed.

I do like Murcia. Even though our friend ran an independent English school there never seemed that many English visitors. "Our" apartment was up near the bullring and the old Condominia football stadium.

I've not been back for a while. Maybe next time we are here in Spain.
