As I unlocked the doors a minute or so it locked all doors , I know this as it's designed that way , I also know if you open 1 front cab door it does not self lock , my question is can a Fiat garage alter the programming to stop the doors self locking ?

Good question it's a PIA. I have had a key cut for the door lock which is attached to my little pocket knife which is always in my pocket in case the keys gets self locked in which shouldn't happen but has once already but fortunately had the other set in the house!

I am certain it is a simple software switch that can be accessed by multiecuscan and other programmers attached to the OBD port. Never tried it, but most everything else like it is in there

Hi
Our Dacia does it,never occured to me that it was a problem, just open and shut a door that sorts it. All part of lifes rich pattern....... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

As a Dacia hasn't a habitation door!! Has it ? 🥴 If you leave the motorhome after a nights sleep without going out of the cab door only using the habitation door it will lock the whole motorhome, and if you have left the keys in the motorhome you are up the swanny.thats why I would like it removed so the cab doors/ habitation doors don't lock, do you get my point

Hi.
Our PVC is 6-7 years old,so this prob has never arisen on that, but,it happens on the Dacia. No it does not have a habitation door............ But if the doors are not opened straight away,it relocks........................... But that is 6-7 yrs old as well......Oh well...... Back to the drawing board. ;)

I understand what is happening and my new pvc is the same but in the year of ownership and over 100 nights away I have never had the doors lock on themselves.

It's all very weird; mine do it all the time! I try to have the radio key in my pocket all the time, which is a pain . Also have the new cut key in my pocket all the time in case I leave the radio key in the van!!

It won't if you go out either cab door

Mine does the same. Simple solution when you park up leave out the driver's door and not the hab door. Job done!

Could you please explain the front door hack please, the self locking is doing my head in, I have taken to wearing a shoe string with a spare key around my neck at all times I am anywhere near the van. Is there a specific sequence? I thought I had cracked it, wishful thinking

Have you tried leaving the keys inside, our Kia has self locking but won’t work if the key is left inside. We only found this out as OH was leaving her bag in the boot with spare key in it and car just beeped and flashed hazards as we walked away.
Try leaving one key inside and see what happens

At the moment I open the can door and then shut it without locking it and then ite ford not self lock , but now I always keep my keys in my pocket.im going to a fiat dealer to see if they alter system, if I get success I'll come and report here.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen an option in the dash menus for activating or deactivating the automatic door locking on our 72 plate Fiat Adria Compact - not sure if it was through the vehicle menus or the Uconnect system.

It’s mentioned in the Fiat Owners Manual but maybe it just refers to them locking over a nominal speed rather than relocking when stationary. I’ll have to give it a go.

It's just to stop locking over a certain speed

When I got locked out of our new Fiat motorhome the keys were inside vehicle, but, not in the ignition, luckily my wife was inside vehicle!

Our 22 Kontiki does this, with the keys inside as well so you’ll get locked out, unlike a Dacia or any other car for that matter. The dashboard settings won’t disable this either. My dealer wouldn’t help and said it was a fiat issue, I took it to Fiat, it’s not them. ARRGGHH…. So I wrote to Swift again and said I’ll pay to have it disabled. They then replied and said the dealer has a fix and will disable this under warranty. Back to Kimberley and now they say they hadn’t heard of it, so I sent the response from Swift and it’s all gone quiet again. Absolute bollocks, if I hide a key I wonder how the insurance would take to a break in. Just disable the damn thing.

It a PIA so got a door key copy done which is attached to my little penknife knife which always lives in my pocket for the occasion the key/s get self locked in the van. Tech too far like the loss of the dipstick and replaced with an electronic dial.

How do you lock the hab door if the keys are in the van.
The self lock will only operate if the LOCKED doors are unlocked but not opened.
Once any door is unlocked and opened it will remain unlocked until physically locked.

The issue is the habitation door does not cancel the relocking in the way the cab doors do.

Are you sure it’s not that alarm? It’s called last door rearming and it’s a feature of car alarms

If you arm the alarm and walk away from the car and accidentally push the button on the fob with our realising it, putting the keys in a bag or pocket for example, the alarm automatically re-arms if the drivers door isn’t opened.

If your alarm is plugged into your OBD Port (which it really shouldn’t be) to incorporate the alarm on/off on the central locking button this will mean ingress will be through the drivers door.

Easy to test, take seconds. On the drivers side dash, pop open the fuse board cover, if you see a box plugged into the diagnostic port, unplug it and see if that cures the problem.

If it does, decide whether you want to live with clambering through the cab door every time, use your preferred door and have no alarm or moan at the dealer and insist they fit a decent alarm.

Our new A class Carthago based on a Fiat locks it doors after a minute or two irrespective of which door has been opened. Really, really annoying. But Carthago make a wiring loom mod to get round this and that was done at Camper UK a few weeks ago. Now behaves nearly normally. Seems that neither door has a door switch to cancel the self locking when opened. I’ve no idea how the Carthago mod operates.

I agree, but if you go out Habitation door, and forget to open can door/s then you're had it , I want to alter programming if possible to stop blo- dy doors locking

Always make sure my keys are with me when I exit after reading about self locking issues
But so far never happened on my 8month old ducato coachbuilt🤞

A van I had, if the wind caught and slammed the hab door it would lock itself. After that happened twice I always wore round my neck a hab door key on a dog tag chain.

On my Crafter I’m 99% sure that you can change these settings in the dash settings menu.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Fiat were the same.

Is there a difference between PVCs and coachbuilts? My (new to us) 2021 Carado V132 doesn't have any automatic / electric lock on the hab door; neither did our previous T334.

Hi Dash I had a dreamer living van until last month, and if you go into the menu on dash, you can disable the auto locking
