Never Used the Tunnel before....

Or is it Ferry every time?
And something no one seems to have commented on.. Going on a ferry the rules are the same, you still have to turn the gas off :-)

Wow those Chunnel prices have gone up!
We have no pets on board, we also like the ferry crossing from Newhaven to Dieppe, even though it takes 4 hours, we feel that we on a holiday cruise ship:giggle: we have a nice casual meal in the restaurant, also looking forward to see what the duty free on board has to offer these days for a laugh:unsure:
Even though we have no intention of going over in Feb 🥶, I did a quote for a week starting the 7th of Feb so as to align date with chaser, and the all in price for two of us is>>>>>£190.50P so a saving of £133.50 over the chunnel price. :party2:

I know how convenient The Chunnel is, especially for those with dogs, but as we dont have any, and we are not in any rush, when the weather is nice its great to get some fresh air on deck, and break the journey, and start a bit further west if heading south.
Chunnel or Ferry depends really which route we intend to take, i.e left or right when we hit France, but each method has its merits & pitfalls so worth checking both.

Same price regardless of length and height not important, coaches use the same carriages as Motorhomes
Unfortuantely not any more the prices are different if you are in the <5.5m or >5.5m price difference seems to be about £30 each way.

They have started to use dynamic pricing so now time of day, date, advanced bookings etc all make a difference.

Hopefully they will bring back some kind of Frequent traveller but have no illusions it will be the £44 plus camper supplement each way is was previously.

It used to be high summer would be really expensive but I costed February half term vs July School holidays and July is cheaper.

Always been that way but that is more like car length than a Motorhome, no difference between 6m or 10m.

From memory if you were booking as a campervan Eurotunnel never used to ask for the length. That info has only been required relatively recently. The last time we used it was spring 2019 and they were not asking for the length then.

TinaL You are probably aware that if the lead person named on the ticket is over 60 or reg'd disabled or a student you get a 20% discount off the website quote for the whole ticket (except for a cabin). You have to book by phone to get the discount.

Same with me since although we weren't always forbidden to cross to France most of the events for which I would normally go 'over there' have been cancelled. That plus the mask wearing and faff of testing etc. takes the edge off the pleasure of a normally relaxing tour.
Fortunately, motorhoming is just one of my several hobbies so I don't have any significant withdrawal symptoms from not going abroad. However, I did change my MOT anniversary from August to December, having only done 100 miles in those 4 months. I don't normally go abroad in August although I may well make an exception this year.

Just had a look and i paid £207 to go out at end of October and £183 to come back 3 weeks later.

Both these were peak times.
