Never/seldom used

Coolcats. Sorry I missed your post as I was typing mine .😀
No problem but you are highlighting the reality of what manufactures are doing.

Like the OP we have not used our Quatro ramps since we first tried them 11 years ago. Finally dumped them 3-4 years ago.

Spare wheel - very glad we had one when we had a blowout near Leizig just after we had entered a single-lane stretch od roadworks, which had no proper hard shoulder and we were sat on a steep camber - the ADAC man had to use 2 jacks to change the wheel.

There was no safety barrier and no chance of scaling the 1:1 embankment. We were glad to get away from there ASAP

Fortunately for the ADAC man it was nearside wheel, because changing the offside would have meant stopping the traffic to be safe.

Lack of ramps could be an inconvenience but lack of spare can be dangerous. It was bad enough with a spare. You cannot choose where it happens.

In all my recent vans I have carried a spare wheel. Takes up valuable space and I have never needed it. Will I leave it behind, no chance. :clap2:
Yep.

Like many I have never used the spare wheel I now have in my motorhome. But I put it in there just after I needed it most. It's not coming out.

Spare wheel is vital, breakdown won't help you if you have a flat if you havnt got a spare wheel.
Lovely - if the manufacturer bothers to install a spare wheel. I've MH'd for 30 years and only needed a spare wheel once; maybe for once in my life, I've been lucky!

Ok you are right but it seems to be a right old game.

So even if the spare 'loan' wheel they have will fit your vehicle you have to then go straight to a garage to get a new tyre fitted, assuming they have the one you need and probably at quite a cost, so that you can then give the AA man theirs back ... sounds a right faff ... I'll stick with carrying my own spare thank you.

I agree with carrying a spare wheel & tyre, we had to buy one as the van only came with a can of gunk and a tyre Inflator. What really concerns me though is that many of us carry that Fiat scissor jack, thats placed beneath the passenger seat in most cases. I have read that this jack is not only dodgy to use, but it is not tall enough to lift the rear wheel off the ground, so you need another small bottle jack also to get the job done.
I know most would call out the breakdown service, so the question is, why do I/we carry it, if its not going to be any use, and its very heavy?
Bit like the vans two A4 ring binders that carry manuals for all the van equipment, engine and accessories, in its lovely zipped bag, it must weigh 5/6 kilos!, well thats a lot of beer, and being a bloke, will I ever read the manuals?, no, but I suppose I might delegate to finding an online version to the mrs, whilst I drink a nice cold one(y):giggle:Pouring her a wine for doing the research of course;)
We carry far too many clothes, as we have to be prepared for all weathers, especially in The UK, I know I have far too many underpants & socks, how do I know this, because after a week or so the mrs starts wearing mine, saying well they are trunks, so they are unisex, I never mention the front fly though:whistle2:
Happy travels folks.

Spare wheel..... groundsheet.

I still carry the fiat jack that is as useful as a chocolate tea pot. No forget that, you could eat the chocolate teapot

We try otherwise to only carry essential items with more than one use

One of the first things I did was find out what all the equipment was and download manuals etc which I then put on an external hard-drive that we take with us ... saves a LOT of weight and as you can 'search' them easily it saves a lot of thumbing through pages and pages to try to find what you want.

ive always found the jack works but the brace they supply really is made of chocolate

We have a clearout every year, the rule is if we haven't used it for a year it stays out. Only exempt things are emergency items, spare wheel, towrope, jump leads, small hydraulic jack.

But somehow "stuff" still finds it's way back in there...........................

We carry a couple of solar shower bags but never use them. Who wants to get naked outside their van when there are nasty sandflies and mosquitoes that can bite bits that rarely see the sun?

Used mine on the boat by hanging pipe through bathroom window.

I have taken the bike rack off the Rienza and fitted blanking plates. My bike is knackered and management regards bikes as instruments of torture.
It was looking a bit scruffy so it’s tidied up the back of the van. It’s propped up along side my workshop so maybe I should give it away next time we have a tidy up day.
