Sits over the back of a car

Brilliant or crazy?

intriguing, can you please be sure to be there when they pack up, for photos of it all folded up and hooked back on to the car please (y)

I also can't see those front legs taking enough weight to support a breeze let alone someone of 'typical' proportions like my good self  think I might have to stick with my Hymer fixed bed

Interesting, yes be good to see it hooked up to car.
Suppose its a sort of mini 5th wheeler, wonder where it was made, bets anyone?

That’s exactly how I would describe it

Had a sneaky peek inside
It’s a huge bed - transverse

I think huge is relative Robert

In proportion to its footprint I would imagine even the sink is huge :)
Big enough for the owner to enjoy a relaxing bath

It looks like one of these (link below). IIRC they appeared in the '80s and didn't catch on. They attach to the hitch and to the car roof - they don't articulate as there's no room between it & the car - so the whole thing becomes a 6-wheel (tag-axle) car. I can imagine much understeer ..............:D.

So, apart from saving on ferry costs; what is the advantage over a normal caravan?

If they are a tag axle, then those four wheel clip-cars are going to be pretty unmanageable on tight bends

Yes they were around in the 80's & the one @Chockswahay posted was a better one as it mounted to the beetle roof centrally & the car could do a 180º & reverse the unit whilst facing forwards.

The main "supposed" advantage over a conventional caravan was stability and ease of reversing
