I have a small camper with no heating and I’m looking to have a diesel heater (2 kw) installed. After several calls I’ve actually found a guy that is prepared to do the job. He has been all over/under my van and the only option is to install one underneath. I’m wanting to keep the cost down and he is prepared to fit a cheap heater if I can get a watertight box for it to be enclosed in.
I’m looking for any suggestions as to where to purchase a suitable box - want to keep it as small as possible.
Any suggestions please?

Funny as you think it might sound, if a frame could be put together, then I am sure one of our crafters with a sewing machine could make a waterproof fabric covering. It's only the bottom where the exhaust is that needs to be heat resistant. That part could be a metal plate, the rest of the enclosure could be fabric ...

Over to you crafters, what do you think? Could you design and sew an enclosure ?
What do you mean 'Funny', I was serious, with the help of Quackers to do the heavy lifting, should be a doddle on a nice day and something different? 👍

Putting it in a waterproof box is not necessary or desirable...it will prevent condensation escaping and prevent natural air flow around the heaters exterior..as already said it only needs the electronics/electrics waterproofing and a splash guard.Even without water proofing the electrical side with proper splash guarding problems are unlikely

Good luck with it Cal54 Son fitted one to the doblo, no idea where he put it but he says it's too warn to use for long🤣
He is however the son who only puts the central heating on when I am visiting although Grandson says he is using it this winter.

We had a Webasto unit mounted inside the welfare unit on our Iveco, but where the exhaust and inlet stubs poked through the floor, the exhaust stub corroded away to powder from exposure to road salt (probably accelerated due to the heat as the inlet was relatively ok ?)

Exactly what I find. I’ve got a 2kw in my Defender. Far too hot, even though you can see the road through the door gaps.
