I need some advice on my Oyster satellite system and after doing a bit of research it certainly appears, the guys at Oystertech are both friendly and very knowledgeable, I could pass by their workplace on route home from our hols, does anyone know if you have to book in advance.

I'm sorry, you threw away a £2000 satellite system even though you could of had it repaired under warranty? Seems a very strange thing to do if you ask me.
The fact its expensive to buy doesnt correlate to its usefulness. Apparently it needed, and was booked in for, a new circuit board (£900) but I didnt see the point of getting it done when streaming is more popular now than broadcasts, and is the only way i get my tv.
I'd rather save the payload of not having it on board as I dont watch much TV, but even in the remotest places from the Highlands to Southern England have I been unable to stream to my tv when ive wanted to.
Even Sky themselves have finally realised its an outdated technology and released a streaming tv. (only a matter of time until the BBC dinosaurs catch up lol!)
For me personally, binning it was the best move (even reduced my height clearance too).
Possibly has a use in Europe but for me, id rather have the extra payload and just get the guitar out or read a book if im ever unable to stream (certainly not worth 2k to me at least).

Did you not read all the preceeding posts, before commenting?
A swift response by Andrew leading to an excellent offer of service, (including a safe stopover), was all sorted out by late Friday afternoon.

Cheers,

Jock. 😀

But data is costly abroad
agreed. I think I mentioned that it may have a place in the EU (assuming they actually have the dish capable of receiving it in that zone).

Although i just had quick look, I took out my Voda plan before Aug 2021 so it sounds like i still get free roaming (if not its only £2 per day, thats a lot of days in Europe to recoup the outlay for a sat system).
Although theres a 25GB pm limit on free roaming, which is nothing when streaming, but the max charge for using more is still only £39 each month anyway.

because the dealership I bought from is utterly hopeless, im still waiting after 3 months, for the missing hab door upper locking mechanism. Just couldnt be bothered. The thought of the hassle of twisting their arm to actually get it done, and then having to take the MH to a sat specialist to repair it, and will probably need to vehicle for a day or so e.t.c. isnt worth the hassle to me. Its my home and I've better things to do and better places to go.

I loathe selling stuff anyway, dealing with "best price"'ers "whats your lowest price" when its a give away price already (without even bothering to first come and take a look). I just give stuff away usually instead of dealing with these people on ebay, facebook marketplace e.t.c, no matter what its value is.
Its just "stuff". I dont need stuff.

Thanks everyone:
For general input and who to best approach to get our satellite system sorted. Made arrangements with Anthony from OysterTech through this forum while still in France and he sorted it for us this morning at their workshop.
Anthony:
Thankyou for fitting us in at short notice, and of course, for sorting the problem out for us.
