RP Rebel on order
Exp
Newbie
Im hoping for some tips for a campervan. My favourite & what is perfect for us is an RP Rebel. However their waiting list is huge & we may need to look elsewhere. perhaps even something we can sell after a year to get an RP.

Requirements...
Rear lounge. made up or drop down bed.
6m
Narrow, pvc or close.
Off grid 3-4 days
Winter proof

Nice
Merc, vw, Man base
4x4
PVC
Hab door on near side

Advice very welcome please!

Gimme a chance! :giggle: I've been entertaining my 96 year old Mum today so been a bit busy since I looked on the forum this morning. 😄

I've got a Carthago C-Compactline i-138 - shortest A-class they do and the narrowest available from any manufacturer that I'm aware of at 2.12m. Unfortunately it won't meet the OPs requirements as it doesn't have a rear lounge.
Interesting van, but id never get onsite with it, plus not a good seating area for 2 people video editing. Thanks for the idea though.

Starting with a base, you can. Premium is 78995 with 317 engine, Exclusive 96995 with 319 engine, AWD 109995 with 319 engine. But extra 13k instead of 9k.
I can’t see it in their brochure as before, the Premium at £78995 I can’t then see the AWD option to add to that?

Yup you cant add awd to premium. Maybe its an engine thing?

No it’s nothing to do with engine, with other makes, Murvi etc, you can add 4x4 with any engine option, plus last time I looked it was only about 6 grand to do so.

Edit, so Murvi 4x4 Mercedes option including 316 engine is £5850.

Is a Murvi a pvc?

Edit. I found their site. All vans seem to just have a single bench at the front.

Yes all front lounges, the Morello is great for space though with the sliding door open, no obstruction and great view, large comfortable sofa.

Its a shame, i need two benches, a single is not good for me.

build your own or have one built for you, then you can have exactly what you want/need (y)

I cant do it, but i could get one built, although what would the quality of furnings be like? Can you get furniture that already fits neatly?

With getting someone to convert it for you, you can choose whatever furniture you want and better quality that mainstream manufacturers use.

Thanks, i am interested in this, but have concerns about quality & fit. I'll try to explain.

We used to twice a year rent inland motor cruisers generally along the Caledonian canal. Occasionally N Ireland. In Scotland, we used an excellent company that fitted out their own boats. The cabinet work was good, but rustic & heavy. Conversely, in Ireland, the boats were off the shelf & were much nicer inside.

Before we decided on a camper & before Brexit, we were going to buy an Elling cruiser. These are wonderfuly crafted with hardwood fittings. But, this was made on a production line.

I dont really understand where companies such as RP & Wildax get their fittings, but assume they have it made for them. How could we reproduce RP or Wildax quality in a one-off?

I think you can buy off the peg furniture for certain vans, but I don’t know what the quality is like. You can buy lightweight furniture board and fittings from morland and other places which is what we are doing in our van, which enables you to have exactly what you want where you want, within reason. Depends on the van and payload as to construction materials etc. But there should be people and companies around who can convert for you to the spec and layout you want.

I'll have a look around for kits. I did ask RP if they sell their fittings, but they ignored me.

Hi
I had a Murvi, the bench sofa is L shaped, so may suit for editing, and the morello splits into two singles for sleeping.
Mine, an older model would convert the bench into two benches, like a dinette, rather like some Japanese people carriers do.. they faced each other, with a table in the middle, and could stay like that when driving. Also you have access from outside, straight into the shower room for wet gear.

Very flexible layout, and we'll built.

2 benches would be good, they dont seem to do that now. I will check their range again. Small L shape is not good for us though, maybe large L.

It’s the Murvi Morocco that splits into 2 singles.
Nice vans though Murvi, the insulation is a bit naff though.

Thanks

Ive looked very carefully at them & i noticed the 2 benches. But seemingly with no seat backs. All murvis seem to be an awful layout with a pointless huge counter top & as my wife said. Sleeping in the hallway.

Ive decided to expand my search away from pvc to what we call "blobby" vans. Possible options would be a vehicle that we would then sell after a year to get what we really want. This possibility brings the chance that we dont have to get 4wd for the first van.
