We've bought a new(er) Hymer and insurance company insist on Cat 5 Tracker with subscription, any recommendations ??

Current van we have a scorpion VTS you can also use your phone as the token, upgrading to 5+ next week for remite immobiliser. Had Vodafone before.

Cat 5 is a Thatcham category and not only does the tracker have to be certified but so does the installer. I got my Phantom 5+ direct from Phantom.

My problem is I live 25 miles north of Inverness, getting a local installer seems remote. How the insurance company expect us to get a tracker fitted when there aren't any local fitters is beyond me. Wife is going to try an insurance company that doesn't insist on a Cat 5 tracker. The insurance companies are just so intransigent, if they gave us some leeway say 7 days we could drive down to Edinburgh or Perth to get one fitted, but that's too easy.

I'll pop down to one of the high end car dealers tomorrow see who they use.

NFU didn't require a tracker or alarm insured van for £130k not sure but they may require it for over £150k.

Try Caravan Guard. They normally give you a few weeks to fit security devices. They will likely insist upon a visible steering wheel lock. Best to ring them. You will get nowhere on line.

My latest tracker was fitted by an installer who was contracted by Phantom. He came from Fife to us at the house, so they might have an installer around the Inverness area. Worth a phone call to them.

Asked in a few car showrooms this morning, most have numbers of fitters that come up when needed, otherwise, no alarm or tracker fitters up here.

Wife got insurance from Adrian Flux, as they supply a tracker. There was a long article in MMM this month where AdrianFlux got a good recommendation. One bonus as w have an A class Hymer, is no limit for windscreens.

we get this all the time, ken Bruce worked in Glasgow for local BBC radio and got asked to pop up to Inverness to interview someone, apparently the person asking (in London) thought it was a short drive hahaaa

If it hasn’t got Thatcham approval it will not be what the insurance company want. Tru Trak do not appear to have the required Cat 5.

Try LV they don't seem to care if you have one or not
