NC 500

Just back from NC500 part tour over two weeks. Made it as far north as Ullapool, avoided Applecross. Quite busy, glad I did it in May wouldn’t want it to be any busier. I would say about half the MHs were hire. Used mixture of wild camping, Brit stops and camp sites. No midges, too cold but not too much rain either. Would think carefully about going June/JulyAugust. Beautiful scenery great to get back to indoor grub as well. Thanks Scotland.

Midges start appearing about June. There is a low road into Applecross for those that don’t fancy the short route but that’s half the ‘fun’ 😀

Correct I also experienced cyclists , not easy , what is the procedure ?
They should be treated and behave like any vehicle, stay behind them until you can pass them in a passing place. The road is too narrow to pass them safely. We went through the Vrsic pass (49 hairpin bends) in Slovenia on the day of a bicycle race but at least it isn’t a single track road.
