I purchased a replacement filter from Pure Water Online at Peterborough 2 years ago and I have just spotted a thread on here which seems to indicate that there was something underhand going on and although I can't find exactly what the issue is, it has got me wondering how I find out if my filter is okay?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance.
Richard

Can anyone help?
I would guess the best thing would be to find a stockist and make a physical comparison?

If yours is incorrect perhaps the stockist could arrange to return it to the manufacturer for you

Many people me included have had their confidence dented by the extraordinary events, so personal will not fit another and professionally won’t stock their products

not quite sure off the problem but i seem to remember that the supplier was supplying the wrong filter if you put nature pure filters into the search bar it brings the earlier post up hope this helps

The problem was that @Techno noticed the weight of the “new” filter he had bought was much lighter than the one he was replacing

In essence the cheaper ones that didn’t offer the same protection were being supplied in the place of the expensive units that do offer a much higher level of protection

@Jim and techno spent a lot of time on this, and for a while it seemed that the manufacturers were keen to help

Thanks everyone. I’ll do the comparison as suggested.

They are still trading and advertising:- http://www.purewateronline.co.uk/

Manufacturers and US suppliers Link Removed

To be fair, I have just a carbon filter in mine. Reduces the scale though, and takes out the residual Chlorine taste. I R-V`d all over the USA, with just the same $30 filter.

If your filter is the later screw on type then the correct part number is 420420. If it is not this number then you will not have full protection. The number can be found on the blue cap on the base, do not go by the number on the box.. I had one of the incorrect filters, and I was compensated by Nature Pure following @Techno's investigations.

How can we trust them again?

The “new” distribution company are very good, but, they are a trade wholesale company that will only trade businesses, but having said that “any business”

What’s to stop a business selling the cheaper less efficient filters for the expensive filter price and pocketing the difference?

After the debacle the American manufacturers should have appointed a single importer that could build trust in the product

It is doomed I am afraid as who can trust it given how important their claims are/were?

I would tend to agree with you. The question is "would you" (ie. anyone) stock their kit?, if the reputation has been that tarnished?. Even though the Manufacturer is still supplying the correct items, where are the others coming from?. I am assuming the "less effective" items are for use under known less severe conditions, but the difference is not being made obvious.?

As far as I am aware, the top end, expensive cartridges will remove bacteria, particles, chemicals, taste etc. From memory I am sure that they were pumping water from a river once as a demonstration

The cheaper cartridges, remove bits in the water and “some” chemicals

The filters are interchangeable but vary vastly in performance ergo price

We (Van Bitz) did enguire about three years ago about stocking them, but we never got around to meeting the (then) UK importer, other than in passing at shows.

Then the brown stuff hit the fan:eek:

So there must be people around still thinking that they are protected when they are not, and there must be people who have a spare cartridge or two ready to use, which may or may not be the correct one

The product is great, IF the correct equipment is supplied and used for the job, I think though that without the efforts and exposure @Jim and originally amature sleuth, and all round good guy @Techno, customers would have been the wiser, and I wonder how much the parent company would have been bothered?

They seem to have kept their heads down whilst they appoint another distributor and intend to carry on as normal

I know that MHFunsters benefitted because of Jim’s efforts with exchange and refund, but what steps has the manufacturer put in place for people that may not be aware that the may have no protection?

Bearing in mind that these filters are sold heavily into the aviation and marine industry. Has anyone informed them?

My concern is that nature pure (pure water online) are now showing stock. General ecology assured us he was out of business.

It'll be interesting to see if he is at Peterborough show this year ... his web site says he will!

Were there any issues with the old style filters?
