I was waiting to see how the Nationwide Flexplus change of travel insurance provider (now Aviva) would impact my additional costs for pre existing conditions, but now I read that they are hiking the monthly fee to £18 in December. I was wondering whether anyone has experience with the alternative Virgin Money's club M which is currently £12.50 a month and seems to be an equivalent in terms of travel and breakdown cover incl Europe.

Yep europe is mentioned but a few red flags....

"Trip: A pre-booked journey within Europe beginningand ending in the UK."

"• it can’t weigh more than 3.5 metric tons (3,500kg)in total, including any load being carried.
• it can’t be more than 7 metres long (apart from atow bar or coupling device), 3 metres tall, and2.55 metres wide."

On and off for many years.
Has anyone checked out Co-op's Everyday Extra account? I have not checked the details but it might suit some.

Just renewed with Nationwide..Not as cheap as previously but cheaper than any alternative I have found. 6 weeks out of UK. 79 with a couple of new joints and r.a...72 with one medical problem..Cost me £258...plus my £18 a month bank fee..considering they have given me a £100 bonus for the last two years I think they are more generous than Two tier Kier..BUSBY

They have now lost me due to this. Van too big and medical problems too great! As soon as inflation comes down and maybe with a new government everyone is putting up prices at ridiculous rates!

Like a few here we have the Nationwide insurance etc.
I have had one claim in the past which payed out few thousand due to a cancilling a holiday due to illness.
This was before the change from UK insurance.
Like most things shop around if you find something that fits your needs better change.
We also use them for house insurance and the main reason is the extra to cover for e bikes is cheep compared to others.

I assume you mean Flex Plus. If so, that's what we and we have had the bonus for the last two years. Don't know if there is a qualifying period.
I think you need a savings account too. Perhaps you have one you are unaware of

Thanks, yes, I missed that. We both have a couple of active savings accounts with NW and I have three old savings accounts each with less than £1 in which I've been struggling to close!
I think that NW is a pretty good deal allround. The Flex Plus debit card has no foreign transaction fees and the credit card also has no fees for purchases abroad. Savings rates are ok as well.
I must say though that I'm a bit concerned about their proposed takeover of Virgin money. Seems like overreach to me.
