Pre existing health conditions? It looks similar to the nationwide account in that respect. I haven't really looked into that side of it too much as 🤞🏼 I'm still condition free!

I still haven't found anything better than nationwide yet, for me anyway, it all depends on the limits and extra cost for add ons I suppose. I've just read Barclays use Aviva like Nationwide.
Lloyd's have a cut off age limit of 80..think Nationwide will cover you over 80..or hope they do..Have been quoted over £1000 on some comparison sites just for health insurance so Nationwide is cheapest to date. BUSBY.

3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Hi, I've joined this thread because of the astounding increase in costs for stays of 31+days I have a holiday home in Spain and I stay there twice a year for about 60days. The premium for a stay over 30days amounts to £340 per trip over 31 days. I'd have thought that motorhomers would experience 31÷ day holidays on a regular basis and would be up in arms over what is a massive increase.
I love the Flexplus deal, my car broke down on the way home and tha Nationwide policy with the AA was fantastic. with a hire car to get us home and repatriation of the car for repair in the UK.
But the massive increase in 31+ day stays cover seems to me disproportionate. Has anyone raised this with Nationwide, its a mutual and this new arrangement doesn't seem to be in the best interests of its customers.

Definitely worth lodging concerns/ complaints. However, Nationwide has @16 million customers apparently, i suspect motorhome users only make up a tiny proportion. They probably think they are acting in the best interests of the majority.

I agree, I imagine the proportion of travellers that stay away over 31 days is very small so they are probably acting in favour of the majority of customers.

Most motorhomers don't go out of the UK let alone spend more than 31 days away. Just have a look at the miles on a average van for sale.

We have just changed from a Flex plus account to a Flex account but realised that you also lose the fee free benefit when withdrawing money abroad, so won't be using any Nationwide cards abroad anymore.

Credit card is still fee free and a great exchange rate.

To many to mention
We will probably stick with Nationwide for the vehicle recovery as we have Motorhome & 2 cars. Aviva will not cover us for existing medical conditions for both of us but still wanted nearly £100 to extend the 31 days for an extra 11 (42 in total) what seems to be unfair is the extra days are not the same for everyone I think it is calculated on your age & risk etc, although very little risk with us as medical conditions not covered.

I must be an exception as are most of my friends. We usually do two 85 to 90 day trips a year and only to mainland Europe.

Interesting that Barclays have just withdrawn their £5 charge for their Blue reward scheme.Limited perks but nett position is ok for me and having a total of 5 vehicles covered by the breakdown cover still works for me.

Has anyone found any packaged bank accounts that match Nationwide? I've looked at a few and they do not cover a 'normal' motorhome! For example CO-OPs limit was 3500kg and 5.5m! Others are UK only.

I am going to stay with Nationwide for the time being unless there are alternatives.
I'm with Coop and have it in writing from them that our 6.7m van was covered. From memory the T&Cs wording is a bit ambiguous and means that vehicles other than motorhomes are limited to 5.5m. Not sure abought weight as we < 3.5 tonnes. There is a limit on 45 days away though and no means of extending

Do you have the section that says motorhomes are covered over 5.5m? I cannot find anywhere that says different.

The statement,

'In addition to any limits and exclusions noted elsewhere in this Policy, we will not cover:

19. Any vehicle other than a car, motorcycle
121cc or over, motor caravan, minibus fitted
with not more than 17 seats including
driver, light van, estate car, MPV or 4x4
sport utility vehicle and provided that the
vehicle conforms to the following
specification:
a). Maximum legal laden weight of
3,500kg (3.5 tonnes). This weight is
called the Gross vehicle Mass (GVM)
b). Maximum overall dimensions of: length
5.5m; height 3m; width 2.3m (all
including any load carried).'

If you can show me otherwise I would definitely be interested, the 45 days travel insurance cover is longer than most.

Has anyone tried any of the other Bank accounts with benefits?
Simply my research into Packaged Bank Accounts so far. (Errors and Omissions Excepted!!) Age limit is my first ko. We are 70 and 73. Our van length is 6m/3.3t - next ko. Next is trip length. We have no health issues to declare (yet) but that’s the big calc (do we just rely on GHIC??)
1 Nationwide £18/m (£216pa) * ??new AVIVA travel insurance conditions??Extension to max 120 days per trip (not pa) Price?? / UK&EU Bd (any owned vehicle) - van max 7m / phones (meh!)
2 Virgin £12/m *max age 74 = ko
3 CoOp £15/m * max age 79/ max trip 45d/ max abroad 90d/ max van length 5.5m = ko
4 Halifax £19/m * max age 70 = ko
5 Lloyds £11.50/m * max age 65 = ko

Repatriation is exactly my question at the moment… For many, with families etc., it’s a very big deal. For us - not so sure. Other hospitalisation costs might swing it solidly - but that’s my question

Just got a quote for European travel annual policy at £61 a year including the wifes BP medication. Nationwide charge us roughly an extra £50 a year for that alone. I think we're going to be switching
Thats cheap..which company gave you that quote?

Just had the letter through today. I'll be sticking, still very good VFM for me, 6 vehicles in the house, 4 mobiles etc etc.

I use their CC for EVERYTHING when I'm abroad, saves a relative fortune in fees. Also have what's left of my mortgage (rare term on here I imagine :giggle:) with them, always found them a great company to deal with.
