Anyone going this year? Know it's not as huge as the Caravan Salon Dusseldorf Show but the upcoming October Show at the NEC mcshow.co.uk is our biggest Show in the UK & where the manufacturers launch new models so a good trip for some of us :) The tickets have just gone on sale & this year there will be no on the door sales so we have to book online in advance & popular days are likely to sell out. Sometimes there are links offering a slight discount (50p off per ticket?) - on the main website link tickets are £12 each (includes parking, Show Guide & Map) plus £1.25 admin. fee but please post here if you have spotted a cheaper link :active: Ticket prices will go up to £15 after 23:59hrs on 17 October so maybe make a note to buy before then if you do want to go.
If there are any manufacturers or stand owners going who would like to offer free tickets to Funsters then please offer them here :hi: For info. Motorhome Fun will not have a stand there this year. If you have received tickets that you won't use we can make good use of them & sure that others on here could too - we'll be on the look out for anything new or interesting, deals & discounts particularly on accessories & maybe try to negotiate the odd Fun discount on anything really good!
In previous years we've stayed in budget hotels rather than camp locally but this year we are doing it in style staying at a nearby 4* hotel for £70 per person per night including dinner, bed & breakfast, parking & use of leisure centre with pool  If anyone spots any good deals on camping or accommodation then maybe post on this thread too as it could help others considering this.
Will post some tips for visiting shortly...

Tips from previous visits but please post your own too:
Parking is included in the cost of your ticket & plenty of room to park the motorhome but not allowed to stay overnight. Car parks are normally some distance away from the main building & as lots of Show halls to walk around so might be a good idea to hop on the free shuttle bus that take you from the carpark to the main entrance but don't forget to note which car park you are in!
Sensible shoes - not just because of the large area that you might cover but also going up & down all those motorhome steps of varying heights safely.
Wear layers as although may be cold outside it gets really hot in the halls with all the lights & people.
Taking a rucksack with food & drinks is a good idea as cheaper & don't have to queue. Suggest only one rucksack if two of you as some manufacturers don't allow them to be taken into their premium models so may have to take it in turns or leave it outside.
There is the option of visiting M&S Simply Food at the nearby airport by walking then using the free Air-Rail link - it's a bit of a walk but ideal if coming in by train & loads of people had M&S picnics last year. Any NEC staff should be able to point you in the right direction for anything as they are normally friendly & helpful.
You can go in & out of the halls freely just don't forget to get your hand stamped the first time you leave. Numbers of tickets sold will be restricted this year so it shouldn't get too crowded but being able to get outside in the fresh air for a break is really good. A new ventilation system was installed after the pandemic for cleaner air.
Pace yourself - it's a lot to get around (takes us at least two days!) & if you have a limited time suggest planning & prioritising the stands you want to see. Suggest downloading the floor plan from here https://mcshow.co.uk/plan-your-visit/floor-plan/ on your phone. Also more detailed info. about the traders & larger map at the back of the Show guide which can be downloaded in advance from the website just before the Show although you will also get a free copy on arrival.
Show days earlier in the week are best to have a chance to speak to the staff who work for the manufacturers about technical queries rather than just the dealers & normally less busy then too.
There is free Wi-Fi so worth checking any prices or information online before buying - some sales staff don't know all the facts or might even make it up to get a sale :(
Take photos of Show prices & layouts (there are usually boards outside each motorhome) & anything else that you might forget later. It's easy to be dazzled by all the glitz & excitement of the Show.
Ask for a cooling off period with your choice of motorhome held if you do agree a sale - 24 hours is normal.
Be friendly & smile - it's long hours & hard work on the stands so more likely to get a good deal if you are likeable not demanding :)

No thanks, I'll pass.
Went in February and hated every overcrowded minute of it.
The February Show is quite different as it's aimed more at caravanners & tent campers with related products plus the stands are the dealers with their stock rather than the manufacturers so much better for motorhomers at the October Show where new models are launched by the manufacturers. Any of these Shows can be hellish at peak times at the weekends but weekdays are always fine in our experience.

We’ve just bought our (discounted) tickets online and paid for a pitch at the site.

Never been before so I’m sure it’ll be an experience!

Don’t even need to buy anything (but most probably will 🙈)

See you there! 👋🎉🥂🚍

Link for the camping https://mcshow.co.uk/plan-your-visit/onsite-campsite/

Alternatively, if anyone would like to treat themselves to two nights in a 4* hotel with good breakfasts (no dishes :) ), three course evening meals, use of leisure centre with swimming pool plus parking included just a short walk from the NEC Halls for £140 per person total then message me & I'll give you the details :active: If you have ever tried to book a hotel for the Show before then you will know how good a deal this is!

With the Exhibitor List https://mcshow.co.uk/exhibitor-list/ & the Show layout map https://mcshow.co.uk/plan-your-visit/floor-plan/ now on the website both these can be handy not just to check out in advance which ones are of interest but also to note which Hall & stand number as otherwise it's very easy to get distracted & miss the ones that you want to see! Most manufacturers will have some details of their new motorhomes on their websites prior to this Birmingham Show (especially German ones already launched at the recent Caravan Salon Show) but if not it's worth checking their Facebook pages too.

Chausson S514 Sportline smart new grey colour cab & bodywork - exclusive to them for 2023 models but sure others will follow as the different aging of the paintwork (especially white) on the cab next to the aging of the white plastic can often be noticed after a few years.

I'm going for one day, then off to pick up the MiL to bring her back to our house for a week or so ...

Not sure which part I am looking forward to the most ....

Will be looking out for Wingamm fibreglass motorhomes https://www.wingamm.com/en/ as haven't seen their latest models, the Coachman Travel Master https://www.coachman.co.uk/ranges/travel-master/ based on the Mercedes Sprinter & the Empire RVs https://empirerv.co.uk/ which should be easy to spot!

I think most of Empires fleet of trailers and RVs were in our field a Goodwood last weekend.
