National Motorhome & Caravan Show Birmingham NEC 17-22 October 2023 - Tips & Interesting New things!

Hi
I’m wondering about the motorhome parking at the NEC. Any thoughts about how safe and secure it is please, especially as vans are likely to be left there all day. Is there anything to prevent theft eg individual exit codes?
Thanks
We parked our van in one of the normal car parks it was fine, loads of space no dramas.

Got a reply from "popup campsite" and the answer is no awnings.

Thanks for your help

Had a long, enjoyable day so only up to posting a bit with more after the Show when there's time to follow up.
TyrePal Show offer valid until end of 22 October:

Staff on the Jacksons of Old Arley stand are very helpful even picking up a replacement cap from their store for us overnight to replace our damaged one on our old Aquaroll! (y) They have 10% discount on their website & in store using code NEC10 which runs until 10 days after the end of the Show:

To add to the big competitions already posted there are lots of smaller ones amongst the stands to look out for & this one on the Knaus stand has got to be worth a go:

Is there still parking for motorhomes across from the pop up CAMC campsite for day visitors
No day parked motorhomes in the car parks near the campsite but lots in the main car parks yesterday.

Show deal from Duvalay is 15% off custom mattresses & toppers, travel toppers, VW campervan toppers & pillows or a free storage bag with their sleeping bags plus free delivery too if ordering from them on their stand 6.23. It's always been one of the busiest stands in previous years as they don't offer the same online only on their stand.

At a previous NEC I had the dubious ‘pleasure’ of speaking to them. I had money in my pocket and was ready to buy but the person I spoke to was so incredibly rude that I took my money away and spent it elsewhere. I think I had a lucky escape as the item I bought suited me better than a Duveley would have. But even with a 15% discount I wouldn’t touch their products with a barge pole if I needed a new topper or anything else they produce. I’d rather pay my money to a company which is actually polite to its potential customers.

Noticed that the owner wasn't on the stand yesterday so maybe that's why the different attitude as have always been busy but friendly when we've stopped by before.

Problem is you never know what is happening in someone’s life divorce, cat just died dog just run over, whilst there is no excuse for rudeness sometimes life is S&@t and it unfortunately makes some one appear rude. On the other side if the person was just an obnoxious idiot they deserve not to have the money and be sacked

No Solbio stand this time but best deal there is 2 (40 dose) pouches for £40 (£24.99 each on other stands) on the Motorhome Matt That Leisure Shop in Hall 9 stand 32B. They have stock to sell stored behind the stand but just a poster with the offer on display.

I remember when we last did the nec it was a great time although one day wasn't enough. Well done for doing a thread Wombles. We are busy and only really need 2 new bags for our chairs to go in so not worth a trip, I'm sure I will get some somewhere next year.

Third & last day for us at the Show today - getting much busier & much prefer the atmosphere of the first couple of days when there is a buzz, the stand staff are friendly & less tired.
Ducato sized vans with pop tops were everywhere & a couple of new MAN 6.8m (Adria) & Iveco 7.1m (IH just launching) van conversions fill a niche gap in the market.
Starting price most common was around £60K for the most basic models & spec.
Did miss some of the shops like Towsure & CAK Tanks so not sure all those who went to buy accessories had as big a choice as in previous years but there were some new stands including a couple all the way from China.
The CAMC campsite has been good for accessing the Show without all the traffic but as the carefully laid out pitching at the beginning is now replaced with spaces being backfilled the spacing is sometimes closer to 3m than their rule of 6m!
It's been good fun, learnt a lot & have met lots of lovely people plus some good new contacts so worth the trip (y)
Have lots of photos to go through with some new products so will post more when time allows...

Going through our photos thought should post some in case also of interest on here & impressions of some of the new things on display - in random order as we came across them as life really is too short!

Seaflo Clean Step - half the price at the Show as on their website https://www.seaflo-uk.com/rv-carava...oor-step-mud-dirt-remover-cleaner-30765-p.asp

New Chinese manufacturer stand that had a lot of interest especially their invertors which are apparently very popular in Australia

Tried to convince Vanshades https://www.vanshades.co.uk/ to make this type of replacement door panel with storage for Ducato/Relay/Boxer too!

Loved the quality construction of their blind systems & again shame they are only for VW campervans at the moment

Another great storage idea for VW owners is the Tailgate Chair Pod - let's hope they can develop it to fit more applications.

Another screen cover option which can be printed to your own design or image - not sure about how they would rank insulation wise but good to see another choice

Interestingly they were advertising that all models could now be supplied in LHD as well as RHD which is a recent development according to the stand staff

There was a lot of buzz around the Bailey Endeavours & in particular the all electric concept vehicle - but we were shocked at the design of the bathroom which allowed more space when not in use with the bathroom door system but if standing washing hands at the sink with the door open there was no elbow room & when closed the space was very limited, it still used a shower curtain (my pet hate) & with only a small vent & no window it was claustrophobic. The product development team were there gathering feedback so ours was logged :giggle:
The focus was on lots of trendy things like Alexa controlled lights & recycled materials rather than usability.

Only one sales person approached us when we were looking at MHs. No one seemed interested. Maybe we look like we can't afford anything!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Early in the week was quite chilled but by Thursday we were being pounced on all the time so think the sales staff are pacing themselves as it's a long, exhausting Show & if not on track sales wise then they have to interact more.

Quest Screen House update - they still haven't managed to sort the design for the high connector tunnel so not looking likely anymore :(
Had a look at their matching Screenshield windbreaks but not sure if with the shape they could take off even if well pegged so still Jormax ones for us if any.

A new brand Telta has designed a multi zip connector system for their awnings so such a thing is possible
