Ok folks, be patient with me ๐Ÿ˜ I have had a self built for the last 8 years ,then bought The Arto a few weeks back.
So it's investigate time and questions come along with that๐Ÿ˜.there will be more but lets start with 2 things first as it what I have been looking at today.
I'm off to Tenerife on Monday for a wee break๐Ÿ˜Ž so as we have had a few frosty mornings I decided to empty the Truma combi 6E that the van has ( i have used both heating and hot water and it works fine) just incase of any frost whilst im away and the results are not what i expected,!

I took the bottom door off the wardrobe to have a look as it's tight to get in there and found this.

You can clearly see the pipe is squashed and restricted as it exits the downpipe from the frost valve.
Has anyone came across this before?
Looks like at that angle it should have a right angled fitting on it. It looks like it's always been that way possibly,so will have to figure out how to get that done so it can empty properly in the future.Hopefully there will be enough play in the hose to get at it when I unscrew the valve from the floor.
Any suggestions welcome, bit of a pita really .

Next question
Are these part of a strike back alarm? Asking as salesmen know nothing ๐Ÿ˜….
I will give van bits a call when I get back from holiday as there is a bit of paperwork that suggests it may have an operating system but not tried it yet till I investigate, just incase I lock myself out or something ๐Ÿ˜….there is alarm fitments on the hab door ,lockers and bonnet.

This last one I found in the bottom of the wardrobe whilst looking at the drain valve, it was stuck to something originally as tacky on the back but cable disappeared under boiler and I can't trace it at the moment . Or could it be a remote sensor the oyster sat stuff is in the wardrobe.
Thanks in advance
Cheers Cris ๐Ÿป.

Yes , normally the valve runs inline with the pipe when on but says its in camping mode in that position in the pic maybe as hchris says it drains it down to the 20per cent mode whilst driving if it is inline and in driving mode!! it is going to take a bit of investigation when i get back from holiday .
The joys of motorhoming๐Ÿ™ˆ
Ive heard of it on Hymers ( who own N+B) where its apparent purpose is to get the weight under 3500kgs for those that dont have C1. Probably wishful thinking though:LOL:.

At least its a reasonably easy and accurate method of having 20% in the tank though

I am pretty sure the Flair had it Jon and the Palace does for sure except it 100 litres.

If it does Martin, it's not something I am aware of. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I only have 3 x John Speed rotary valves for the fresh water system draining, ie, tank drain, hot line drain, and cold line drain.
The city water/fill valve is seperate, but I don't think it facilitates draining down.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Thats a good point Jock. ASfaik I've got 5 of them under the floor and not totally sure what they all do, one of them could be that although I rarely fill totally as we seldom stop more than 4/5 days anyway.

If we are still worrying about the driving/camping mode tap my take and I think it has possibly been covered already is that it is just a pipe stuck up a few inches in the tank, open it and anything above run out, close it and it will fill up completely, open is the handle inline with the pipe and closed is across the pipe, winter draining will be in a different place.
I will be looking today and opening tank cover and see what happens when I change valve positions๐Ÿ‘

I weighed the van last week, full gas 2x11k Gasit bottles,3/4 fuel,1/2 tank water, kitchen cupboards full some items in fridge but garage empty .
It came in at 3600kg,front 1740 ,rear 1820.
So I have 400kg payload left,I may uplate in future will see what DVLA get upto first๐Ÿ˜….
However I don't travel heavy and will keep my water weight down and also thinking of taking satellite off (puts the vans height at 3.05m and 2.92 without it) .Sat dishes are on the way out I think with internet being the future and gives me more room for solar when i change the battery setup when I get back from Spain in April.

I would rather travel basically full over half as I think it stops the water banging about so much in the tank, I imagine Jock will understand that from fire engines, I am sure modern stuff has better baffles but older I am not so sure.

Ok ,so I have been out this morning armed with the info everyone has passed on ,many thanks for the help๐Ÿ‘.
So started of with 1/2 tank of fresh water.
Last pic shows water being drained ( no I never missed the bucket it's still under the frost valve ๐Ÿ˜…)after putting the valve in the garage onto drive mode

Next pic with ruler shows about 65mm at water lever and 130mm at top of tank and 35mm on next pic after 30 mins.so it leaves the tank about 1/4 full after draining it.
The video hopefully is self explanatory.
I now know a bit more about the van ๐Ÿ˜.

Cheers Cris ๐Ÿป.

The way each country is now restricting their roaming allowances Chris, Internet and streaming can only become more expensive, though local sim cards and a decent VPN seem to be the cheaper option.
Admittedly with a tonne of spare payload when loaded up, continuing with the satellite dish isn't an issue for us, and I am loath to part with it whilst it's still functional into Northern Spain, and eastwards to Bavaria. :(

I am totally with you Martin re stability and handling, as will Pugsy Chris, (also ex Fire Service), and especially when abroad, I never let the tank drop less than half, as I never know where my next fill up point will be.

I wish ours drained at that rate Chris. Your is a waterfall compared to our dribble. :( .............

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I will be keeping the Dish on for this winter trip to Spain and make a decision when i get back.
I have been using internet and firestick for years now and as you say local cards can be best options, however yes i am a bit reluctant to remove the sat dish as it is in working condition, not worth much if i take it off.
I am going to use the van as is this trip ,this will give me a plan of action for work in the summer.

Cheers Cris ๐Ÿป
