Used to be a dribble and I lived with it but now the toilet bowl is filling up 2-3" with water in a couple of hours of no use. I have a Thetford blue button pump unit, any ideas where I can start to look for the problem please??
 
Sounds like the solenoid valve not shutting properly. Short term measure is turn pump off & open a tap to release water pressure when not needed. Proper fix is to remove solenoid valve & check for a bit of debris or split in seal.
New solenoid valve is about £,45 if needed part No. 23709.

I have had this problem a couple of times. In each case I was able to clear it by just holding the button down for a really good flush which presumably flushed out the bit of grit or whatever was preventing the solenoid valve from seating.
 
as said, grit or more likely limscale on the solenoid valve.. try exercising it , on off on off several times.. if that doesn't stop it you could descale your complete system , including the boiler as per Truma instructions, using white wine vinegar or citric acid.. flush the solution through all taps and the toilet flush and leave for several hours.. drain and rinse out ..
 
As above, a good descale might help. I prefer citric acid to white vinegar as it flushes out easier. I do mine biannually.

Descaling .. From my notes:

Descaling the Truma water heater

The Truma website it will tell you to de-scale as follows: -

“For hygienic reasons you should decalcify the water container occasionally. Use special decalcification products from camping specialists or conventional vinegar essence or citric acid, for example.

Fill the decalcifying product in the recommended ratio into the appliance via the water system, allow it to work and then rinse the Combi heater thoroughly with fresh water”

following an email to Truma I received the following reply: -

“Please find below instructions for descaling the Truma water heater:
Dilute 2 litres of white wine vinegar into 10/12 litres of fresh water, introduce into your water system via your water inlet, (removing the filter if one is fitted for this process) open the taps to pull through to the heater and then leave the solution in the heater for 4 to 5 hours and then flush through with fresh water”.

I have also been provided with the following additional advice concerning the use of Citric acid:

The ratio Truma recommend is 1 tablespoon of citric acid to 1 litre of water”.

My preference is Citric Acid.

Make up the solution of Citric Acid,

I used an 11lt watering can and poured the solution into the fresh tank, then pumped through all taps, hot and cold, including shower head, and toilet flush.

Drain down and flush system with plenty of fresh water..

Thanks to all for the humour and diagnosis and also the advice. Will flush the system with citric acid (which I need to do anyway) and see what happens from there. (y)
 
@scotjimland . Thanks for that. Very useful info. Just a question, do you heat up the water/acid in the boiler when descaling, or does it work cold?

I heat up the boiler when descaling. Seems to work better at least with citric acid. Vinegar is more volatile so it might boil off.
