My RMB for sale.

Now let me think.....1990 I bought a house for £12000, with a bit of extending it recently sold for £350000 , not by me I may add. But in todays value, what would 65K be worth from 1990. Looking at it that way, I should have kept the 12K house. In 1970 I bought a 2 bed house for £250 cash, unfortunately I had to sell that to buy another at £750. I wish I still had all the houses I bought and sold over the years, but had to sell em to buy another. I would imagine as an investment a motorhome would be as much use as an igloo in the Sahara, but as long as you buy wisely you should not lose anything. Although I cannot remember just how many motorhomes I have owned over the years and although I have rarely made any money out of them, I have never lost anything either. I have had the enjoyment of use which I consider a good investment in itself.
Bit off topic but a good friend of mine now 60 and semi retiring from his own decorating business, he purchased a 3 bed semi some years ago for 125k he has just completed the sale for fifty pounds under one million. He spent 400k on a lovely new home which leaves him 600k tax free to start his retirement with when he has had enough of work. Turned out nice:Smile:

Is this a new 23ft 9 thread:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Now, now, John you know it was 23ft 3 ins or was that 6 ins or 9 ins :Smile:you have me confused now --
plus I don't know Dave's asking price but I like to bet it's a realistic one that will be achievable and not be 10k too much

As a mild aside, but relevant to the testimony of RMB quality, Udo's just been in to have a new Alpine stereo fitted.

The specialists do quite a few motorhomes, especially RV's, and all had a good nose around Udo. They simply couldn't believe how solid he is and were stunned to learn he's 22 years old.

I'll post a few pictures in a separate thread.

Of course its realistic Terry, otherwise I wouldn't be able to sell it. If some one is genuenly interested, and I have a good idea which ones are, then I have no problem discussing the financial aspect of it with them. What must be remembered is this, if you want one of these, then you will have to pay good money, cash, whether you buy in Germany or the UK. The chances of finding one in the UK are zilch, so that means taking a gamble on traveling to Germany on the off chance that its a good un. The Germans know what they are, and that they are valuable, so if you find one that suits you, you will have to pay around 20000 Euros. If its not what the seller said and it doesnt suit you then you have just thrown 4 days of your life away and £500. If it is what you want you then have the hassle of bringing it back as well as cost. So by the time its at home, insurance, export plates, fuel, ferry and running around have come to about a grand. Then you have to make the changes for the UK MOT and get it tested and registered. Its no good going back to the guy in Germany and saying the fridge dont work, as its tuff titty Englander. If all goes well you are now in for around £20000 if your lucky. If your as unlucky as Bill the drill, then double it

Well wot a guessing game " guess the price " thats wot Ebay is for so best put it up for auction, you can bet on one thing it will not be worth as much as you think it will be thats if you know yourself:youbetcha:

I do hope this is not going to suffer the same fate as poor old Bobs RV sale.

IT'S IN THE BACK of my mind that he did sell it (not sure how much-asking price?) and he was having health probs/issues and spending most of the yr abroad and /or hospitals --Don't know why I think this -perhaps I imagined it  or It could have been an explanation of why he would be missing for a yr or so ---Slobberdodbob where are you ?

He hasn't logged on since November 2012, hope he is OK.........

That's a lovely MH Dave. I'm sure you won't be lost for a buyer, especially if they know the RMB build quality. :thumb:

Cheers,

Jock.

Thanks Jock, I have no worries whatsoever whether it will sell or not. If it does, it does, if it doesnt, it doesnt, as am not that motivated to sell it. Once I bought it I thought it would be for life, but like some marriages circumstances change. Because of my reduced mobility, I now need a scooter, but I would never go anywhere long term without my car. So I now need a bigger trailer and higher train weight, hence the sale and purchase of another van. Which by the way, is another RMB. There are several interested parties, one being someone who has joined Fun just so he was able to contact me. So its a win win for me and Fun. Fun gets a new member, Jim gets another tenner and if all goes to plan another RMB comes to the UK. All down to the power of Fun :thumb:.

You know I was looking at them Dave and if I had the readies would bite your hand off... it's a cracking van.. but unfortunately have to wait until I can raid the pension pot in Sept.

Hi snowbird,

Did you sell this MH?

Kind regards
Christian

Long gone am afraid and the one it was replaced by. Cannot find another for the life of me. Wish I had a dozen of em.

Do you mind me asking how much you sold it for? Why did you sell the 760 aswell? The reason I ask these questions is that I am a collector of classic vehicles and was doing some home work on hymers when I came across these threads via Google regarding RMB's, I knew nothing of this manufacturer. From what I have read on here you seem very well versed on these vehicles, I think hymers are not a pick on these.

Kind regards
Christian

The 670 went for the asking price of £18k. I sold the 760 because of yet another change of plans when I went down the route of a fifth wheel outfit.
