My new Carthago 143

My CDS and NOVA are complete now which took a couple of days. Got my IVA cert in post today. Took a week as they return cert by 2nd class post! Registration to submit now then I’m on the road
Great news Dom, bet you can't wait to get your first trip in her.

Yes looking forward to it !

I’ve used the van quite a bit now and love it. It’s had a couple of upgrades recently. First thanks to Autogas2000 had a full alugas setup with external filler and bbq point installed.

Dom, looks fantastic, the kitchen next to the hab door, no drop bed makes for perfect set up for 2, you're swaying me away from the Hymer!
I'm interested in how you configure your garage for bikes, as the 123cm height of the Hymer was the driver for me, bikes in with wheels on v taking them off.
I have a Thule velo slide out on mine, works well.

And most recently I went to the excellent guys at off grid power solutions for some victron porn in the garage including 3kva multiplus, Orion XS, 370w solar and mppt, cerbo and screen, solar dump for fridge and a battery master. All powered by 2 280amp fogstar drifts.

We opted to use the lynx and with the trunking the set up looks full factory install.
We retained the booster for the fridge and the wiring was sorted so the multiplus doesn’t run the fridge unless via the solar dump when charge permits.

Awning next weekend is the final addition for now. Maybe another solar and starlink once that is on and we can see what else will fit up there

Looks great Dom, very professional looking installation.

I’m just fitting one to our 143 our have to be very selective where to drill the holes through the floor, due to the water/waste tank. I wanted to keep the bikes forwards in the garage, be interested to see how/where yours is positioned

The bottles are a bit high relative to the regulator, the outlet valve should be lower than the regulator.
It would be better if you remove the slide out as its not needed with refillable bottles & would help prevent regulator gummed up problems.

I have 14kg bottles in mine and they sit below the regulator but I don't have the slide out.

It/they look fantastic.

But After two A classes with major issues when requiring engine bay work, 6 hours to change a light bulb. I would be making sure they had good access under the bonnet.

In-fact, I probably wouldn’t buy another. We only have an A Class now as I got it 1/2 price.

My Hymer was awkward to change headlight , having to lay on my back and reach up between bumper and inner arch but my new to me Carthago looks a lot easier and can be done from under bonnet.
Not sure much else could be done that way as bonnet doesn’t give as much access as the 2001 Hymer did.

On our last Hymer the headlamps were dead easy to change, already had grazed arms just changing the bulbs on the Carthago.

I used the short, 700mm, cross runners for the slide-out.

The end of cross runner shown in the photo is 25mm from edge of rear eyebolt track,

The slide was then positioned on the three cross runners to allow the handlebars not to interfere with the garage door opening.

I did lots of measuring , re positioning and cross checking before I drilled the holes!!
