You obviously don’t know what tracks can be legally used by powered vehiclesI cannot understand your reference to use of boats by PTWs. I find boats, at least sailing ones, very quiet.

And OAP’s driving motorhomes because they just cause congestionAfter banning motor bikes it will be mountain bikes and then dogs, noisy children ,people wearing bright clothes………..and there will be just one very selfish person left with the whole trail to themselves…….enjoy
Or, their driving them past my house at all hours of the day and night on the road at the end of my garden that's been built there since I lived where I now live, so can you all just stop it. The road, Oh it's the M25!! Nough said? And OAP’s driving motorhomes because they just cause congestion
Romans in everybody's ancestry I would think, but I'd crucify the bikers that hoon it past my house at 5.30 every dry morning - why don't bikers like getting their bikes wet btw?Ha ha, there's a quote from a famous Roman bemoaning the noise from the road at the front of his Villa, about the oxen bellowing, and the squealing
of the ungreased axles, nothing changes, no Romans in your ancestry are there?
Mike
Speaking as a now ex biker, [ not withstanding the little Honda Wave we carry in the garage] motorbikes are a PIA to bring back to pristine condition if allowed to get wet, then dry with the water marks on them. Noise is a strange thing, that once registered on our brain it's able to cut through any other background sounds, for example, we have a resident at the back of us who delights in making bird boxes!!, how many bird boxes does the world need?? Well a huge amount seemingly, as every nice summer evening the twat is out there circular sawing up bit's of old decking and the such like. It seems to have lessened a huge amount of late, but that be because he has now noticed his racket is now choreographed by the intensely annoying sound of my 2t Stihl blower in action in my garden when he stops cutting. The truce is, he uses a hand saw, and I use a rake. The other neighbours comments were that whilst annoying at the time, the solution has produced some peaceful evenings..Romans in everybody's ancestry I would think, but I'd crucify the bikers that hoon it past my house at 5.30 every dry morning - why don't bikers like getting their bikes wet btw?
Agreed, but go back to the top of thread, which was a couple of contributors having a discussion on a thread that it seems was not to everyone's liking, fair enough, I see plenty of post and threads that raise my hackles, but I move on to a another thread. The original detractor decided he couldn't let this thread go uncommented upon though, and what it really needed was his tupenth worth in the contents, so they stomped in with their size 13 comments all over our thread which had been between some like minded contributors. He didn't stop to think that there may be elements in his threads ,hobbies, or life style that might be worth a negative comment, or perhaps he's just unimpeachable, well we'll find out , every post or comment from this contributor will now be checked , questioned and negatively commented on , it's a game of more than one.You should ban conversations like this and just all crack on and be nice to each other
Plenty of room for all of us as long as we all have a little consideration for the other people around us
I'm not cut out for this Internet stuff mate this is my first and last ever subscription to any forum I don't do any others I will continue to read the interesting bits but so much bickering sort of pushes all the good stuff to the backAgreed, but go back to the top of thread, which was a couple of contributors having a discussion on a thread that it seems was not to everyone's liking, fair enough, I see plenty of post and threads that raise my hackles, but I move on to a another thread. Ban motorbikes ragging it past my house please - nearly all of them are way too noisy and far exceeding the speed limit.
Don’t bail out of here too quickly, not all threads/participants here are combative or argumentative just for the sake of it.I'm not cut out for this Internet stuff mate this is my first and last ever subscription to any forum I don't do any others I will continue to read the interesting bits but so much bickering sort of pushes all the good stuff to the back
Call me a old fashion romantic but I just want everyone to be happy
I gave up motorbikes when I bought my 1st motorhome in 2007, decided to buy a Yamaha XT600 in 2020 after C put paid to our travels, joined the local TRF and tagged along with some lads and lasses, I'm 60 now and feel maybe there is not that many trail bike years left in me, although we did stop and chat to a 64 year old solo rider at the top of a challenging road just the other day (Gatesgarth) So if you're thinking about it DO IT...Very nice bike, used to have xr250 but none of us knew where to ride!
Should have joined TRF . In the future I’d love to have another go at green laning.
Even bought a Honda crf250L 2013 but it was stolen.
As far as I’m concerned if it’s legal go ahead.
I'm sure everyone is lovely and enjoy reading lots of stuff maybe it's meDon’t bail out of here too quickly, not all threads/participants here are combative or argumentative just for the sake of it.
That’s not really what I meant, there are always exceptions to every rule. Some here like a bit of heated debate, being critical of others or just p1551ng on someone else’s parade. Thankfully they’re not the majority, most are helpful or like a bit of banter/humour.I'm sure everyone is lovely and enjoy reading lots of stuff maybe it's me
Me too mate, and very impressed by your magnanimity, but unfortunately I wasn't gifted those genes of live and let go, consequently I have a face like the back end of a Pug, but still haven't quite grasped talent of turning the other cheek. Still, I'm only 65, so there's plenty of timeI'm not cut out for this Internet stuff mate this is my first and last ever subscription to any forum I don't do any others I will continue to read the interesting bits but so much bickering sort of pushes all the good stuff to the back

What about all the Geese passing by on Market day, that must have been pretty annoying too.The road was built for horse and cart a few years before the house was built. Motorbikes didn't come along for over 100 years and have been making horrible noises ever since.
Does he cut the wood at 5.30am and wake everybody up? Bikers scream along all around our rural area in the early hours with no consideration for others. Your neighbour is not breaking any laws cutting the wood but merely exercising his legal right to do it, just like trail riders but it's still annoying to everybody else. Bikers speed at up to 100mph in the 40/50mph zones around here so not any legal rights involved but they think that they are impressing somebody.Speaking as a now ex biker, [ not withstanding the little Honda Wave we carry in the garage] motorbikes are a PIA to bring back to pristine condition if allowed to get wet, then dry with the water marks on them. It might be better to direct " your rant" to the appropriate authorities as clearly [ from your description ]many road traffic laws are being broken and show them any physical evidence you have, [ videos, hand held speed camera samples ect.] that should stir them into action. You can "rant away " all you like at me, but quite what you expect a fellow contributor on a motorhome forum to do just because "they once" owned a motorcycle escapes me? I dare say virtually every contributor on the forum has a cross to bare about their particular region, with very few living in "Nirvana".Does he cut the wood at 5.30am and wake everybody up? I dislike the engine noise if motorbikes, they are deliberately too loud and only bikers think it's a sporty or hairy chested noise.
Rant over
but they think that they are impressing somebody.
It's mostly younger riders that ride in the manner that you have described but they don't do it to impress anyone or to appear more manly, they do it for the adrenaline buzz, for the same reason people sky dive or base jump or swim with sharks or any other dangerous sport, they should be doing it on a racetrack but that is youth for you, rest assured they will either kill themselves or modify their behaviour after they've fell off a few times. Plenty of young car drivers drive in a similar manner but at least pedestrians can hear bikes coming. One can only hope that neither the bikers or would be Vestaphens kill anyone in the process.and only bikers think it's a sporty or hairy chested noise.
Well done, it is Gatesgarth taken from Sadgill, only fully open once a Month.Looks like you had a great time and weather to go with it.
I used to do alot of greenlaning on LEGAL row's .
Used a Bmw F650 and later an 1100GS.
The Peak district national park decided in their wisdom that "ramblers " horse riders , didn't have enough paths/ bridleways to themselves and started closing lots of routes down.
Same applied to the Yorkshire Dales.
Admittedly there are some idiots that use non legal machines , these tend to be the sorts that would ride across open moorland regardless.
At the same time i have seen plenty of destruction caused by " ramblers" leeving waste, burnt out portable bbqs etc etc .
If its a legal Row, enjoy it.
Is the last pic on the lane that you have to book in advance and only very limited amounts of vehicles are allowed to use it?. Forgot its name, old toll road? Perhaps. Thsnks for posting
The objections are a moving goal post. Within the TRF group I was a member of one of our riders had the use of an experimental electric trail bike. I was espousing this at a meeting of all the user groups as a way forward for trail bikes, but there was an objection, from of course the Rambliar representative. His objections centred on the fact that the bike would be virtually silent, his concern being that the bike would arrive on heels of a group of ramblers and " frighten and disturb" them as it was "SO quiet ", he went on " perhaps if it was equipped with some kind of audible warning it would be safer" !! Make it up you could not. When i took my new bike to Picos mountains i did a little off roading to test the reviews saying it was quite good.
Not having done any offroading for decades it was a revelation and brought back so many memories.
My bike is relatively quiet so i'm guessing i disturbed vey few people (maybe 2 in 3 hours offroad)
Bikes don't have to be noisy to be enjoyed green laneing.
I'm looking for rides here in Cheshire to enjoy my new (old) found love.
I hear you and know exactly what you mean. The objections are a moving goal post. Within the TRF group I was a member of one of our riders had the use of an experimental electric trail bike. It's just the fact that " YOU ARE THERE" that grates and irritates them, the only good trail bike is one locked up in a shed as there's nowhere left to use it is their philosophy and mantra.
I'm not trying to put you off, just be ready for the vitriol and bile you WILL encounter for carrying out legal pastime that happens to offend another group.
PS, I took up kayaking, and guess what? We are despised by "Sports fisher people", that animosity was fuelled by the DEFRA representative at the time suggesting that a few ounces of "lead weight cast at kayakers " should deter them off of the "legal" but more popular sports fishing rivers. I have all the necessary river licences. Again, it's just the fact that you are there that's the issue, and a general lack of " live and let live " encountered in this Country, but much less so in other countries.
We were harangued and videoed on the "Tweed" river in the borders when we paddled that by a group of salmon fishers on the opposite bank, even though we had paddled to the far bank to give them as wide a berth as possible.
I have a trick now if I encountering "grumpy danglers" when I'm out paddling, I roll the kayak over in front of them, then roll back up and tell them " you might as well pack up and go home, there's no fish down there mate"
Mike.
