If you’re ever away and need someone to keep your bikes moving, our 6m van would fit on your drive (by the look of it), EHU would be helpful, but our solar should be okay. Somewhere to empty grey and black waste, but I’m sure I can find a suitable location to drive to if you can’t supply. (y)

History - I've had motorbikes since I was 13, I'm 73 in a few days; the only gap was for 12 years until I retired at 67 & bought a 2001 BMW R1150RS, I had a Harley & other boxers before that. Last month I did a 5,600km (3,500 mile) trip around Norway (I live near Stavanger), 12 days of heavy rain & some very strong winds, 50kgs on luggage; sometimes tiring on the hairpins & narrow roads but enjoyed it. Otherwise it's 200 to 400km day trips in decent weather for our 6 month riding season:). I usually ride 6,000km a year.
Advice - I have been thinking of getting something lighter because a) If it falls over, I can't pick it up easily by myself & b) It's getting a bit heavy (or I'm getting weaker) to maneuver around in my garage ... Then I go for a ride & decide to keep it, love the torque of a big twin:).
My 65 year-old mate just down-sized to a Honda NC500X, he keeps up with our bigger bikes on the twisties & hills over here & recently rode to south of Spain & back. His bike is probably faster than your Square Four.
YOLO - You Only Live Once! Good luck.

this wont fall over easily

Have had bikes since I was 12-13, always at least 1 off road bike and a road bike and sometimes 7 bikes when I was restoring and collecting 70s Jap bikes.
My last off road was this bike and after 21 years of trial mainly expert route I was advised by my consultant that any broken bones would be serious to me☹️☹️
Gutted when I gave up.

Still have one of my RD 400s I restored and did have an order in for a Ducati Streetfighter but after a test ride could not ride it for more than 10 minutes without it being painful.
Will stick with my RD I’ve had for 23 years.

is it possible to ride a wing at 20mph?
Yes, very easy. Today i did many miles at 20 and below when the Nag sent me down some lanes with grass gowing down the middle......and other farm stuff.

As I’ve said before “ Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul “
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks its head out of a car window. :giggle:

Have five bikes from 1923 New Imperial to 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX all different to ride, the biggest difference I find is modern brakes and tyres, on my Venom the difference between the old style tyres and modern Avon Roadriders is a revelation and I suspect you will find the same. As per previous posts definitely take the learner courses and possibly IAM to refresh. My brother in law started riding mid fifties, did the lot and still managed to fall off, mind you he is a short arse and couldnt get his foot down!
Best wishes and remember they are out to get you........

Hey don’t disrespect us short arse’s 😂😂😂

Got a Z1000SX for my son last year. Brilliant bike. He wanted a ZX10R but I told him no chance, too inexperienced. He’s learning well now though so maybe next bike.
Been riding since the 80’s and agree tyres are such a massive improvement on those days. 99% of riders aren’t good enough to out ride modern bike tyres.

Go buy a Moto Guzzi v7, you’ll have no regrets, I had one for a couple of years and loved it, handles beautiful on the curves, good mpg too, down side the saddle was a bit too firm for me, please beware buying a Guzzi will only encourage you to buy another and your only ever one Guzzi away from buying your last, I now own a Guzzi V85tt Travel, brilliant piece of kit, it sits beside my California vintage 🙂
In the spring I bought an electric scooter, range 60 miles, top speed 48mph, weight 110 kg,, batteries weigh 20 kg. It will carry 2. Sadly it is Chinese but it's the best thing I ever did, I've done 1000 miles on it this summer at less than penny a mile fuel cost. It is light, nimble and I've built a rack to carry it on the MH. My BMW R100RT sits sulking and unused in the garage. I'm 76!
when I was in my early 20's.
Now, at the ripe old (but reasonably fit) age of 71, I'm concidering buying a Moto Guzzi V7.
Am I a bloody idiot with a death wish (as some family members think) or should I go for it?

Might work for you but hardly going to get the pulse racing is it

Agreed a 500cc machine has plenty of go, my CB500X easily keeps up with my mates on the Cheshire & North Wales roads.

Rather than the Guzzi I have been looking at getting one of these, it won’t be the first Machine I have bought whilst sat around the pool on a Greek Island.
I quite like the quirky design & the engine will go on forever.
