Water rose that high in minutes, took the photo then moved. It was fine a 100 yards up the road.

I think one has to be particularly vigilant in rocky areas where there is little soil or grass to soak up the water and then it all is just run-off until it finds a hollow or barricade, then builds up quickly. A lot of Greece is like that.
