Motorized waste valves

Les I am just going to use the motor from the valve and mount it on top of the waste tank to actuate the valve already there and get rid of the naff tap under the doorway floor that you had problems with
Its so tight down there, cannot even get fingers in to try and reattach that damn lever to the existing valve, hence why the tank will have be dropped out the bottom of the van. The existing valve is also very close to the tank wall, I felt sorry for dealers workshop guys they spent a couple of hours trying to get the lever reattached, and said it could never have been fitted properly at factory. As you know the operating lever is very long as it has to pass under the bathroom floor before it attches to the valve.
They want to have the van back for 3/4 days to leave it with them, and then said they may have to alter current arrangement and put a manual tap outside like a normal set up, which I dont want if possible.

I wish I could see how you hope to attach the electric valve actuator to the existing dump valve physically. If you do manage it, some pictures would be great to see.
PS: I need to remember my Reg detail to get back on the Carthago Forum, it wont let me in today. I bet there were lots of people with this same problem on there, wish I could see them.
Thanks.
LES

Swift even fit electric dump valves on some of their motorhomes, I wonder what type they use, and if we can source where they come from? anyone/swiftowners know?
They even use the Shiny Chrome finish switches above the hab door, one for grey, another for fresh water dump.

On top of your tank at the minute there should be a small 90 Deg gearbox were the long lever from the door well connects I intend to turn that round 180 Deg and mount the motor to it to drive it open and closed

Why would you want to be outside, once over the waste dump just flick a switch. ?
If you must be outside put a switch in a locker nearest the outlet. .
Sometimes when on site for long periods I empty the waste into a bucket to dump it so it comes in handy for that👍

I currently use the French valve dump option, commonly known as a wine cork stuffed in the end of the waste pipe, dont even need a cork screw! :giggle:

I wish my valve was as easy to locate as yours, it would have been easy to reconnect the lever or replace the existing valve on the day I took it to the dealers, I waited over a year for the new parts to arrive from Carthago. and still got no where, leaving us all frustrated & scratching heads, due to lack of access.
Silly design, I know I am not the only one to experience the lever becoming unattached.

Makes it easier to dump the grey water whilst driving along the road......only joking. None of us would really do that😯
No, it is hopeless.... either fully open or closed. You can't do a stealth dribble :whistle2:

These are great for emptying while driving along, especially when you’ve got loads of cyclists behind you....😁

But only if it's raining so it just looks like your going through a big puddle :ROFLMAO:
Not if he wires it correctly i.e. with a D+ signal wired to a relay to isolate it so it can only operate with the engine off.

One concern that valve is a ball valve I'm not sure it is suitable for use on a waste outlet as muck & fat could gum it up and stop it closing.

Ditcha I assume you are fitting a service camera as well, makes life easy don't have to move from the driving seat.

Have I missed something or is the description wrong quote "the actuator is driven by a synchronous motor" to me a synchronous motor needs ac power. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronous_motor

One part of the description says DC but the extra details say synchronous!

That is the type of motor in motorised valves used in domestic heating plumbing albeit 220v ones.

Thanks for the heads up guys, now we know at least what Swift are using, so similar valves from China can be used also. Yes the DN15 valve states 5V, but when you open the e bay link and read through the detail it says 12v, 45/100MA, with a 5second operating time to open/shut. It also shows input/output pipe size as 1.9CM or 0.75"

Interesting that Ditcha is considering using the actuator motor only to turn the existing manual valve open/shut, that would then illuminate any inner ball valve size reduction.
Great idea if it works, but only time will tell if it can be utilised for that purpose, as the existing valve could be quite stiff to open/close, but wish him every success (y)

TBH I’m sitting here thinking if there’s a better way to waste money?
Not if you have a knackered waste valve with a dodgy manual lever set up, plus having to use buckets and alike for 2 years as the grey waste pipe could never be closed from new, read my post, even the dealership cannot fix it easily, so needs a re think.
This solution is a means to an end for me.
