MotorhomeFun Magazine

I would rather MF concentrated on the fun web site: difficult to use currently and I used to find the site brilliant for information. Unfortunately the magazine in my view is a bit of a missed opportunity but can appreciate all the work that has gone into it for an individual.

What difficulties are you having using the MHF site?

Also what do you mean by "missed opportunity"? Personally I'd think it was a new opportunity to spread the word and seems to have been very well accepted everywhere and not just on this forum.

Difficulties: The site takes 20 - 40 sec to load, (all other web sites perfect), Apple warn me that the site is not secure, several pop ups with 'Opps there is a problem...', the page is missing some headings like the the search facility, it sometimes freezes to a white page, not sure if this is an Apple format issue if you are not getting the same?
Missed opportunity: the app is very good but I personally do not like the editorial style as it seems very aligned to the other magazines in my opinion. VERY respectful of the effort put in and the following Jim has created within the web site and wish him well with the site. Now getting settled for the rugby.

If you haven't already it's worth reportig your problems to Jim he's the Apple expert. I'd guess it's a cookie corruption causing it - try deleting your cookies/history then rebooting, that's worked for others.

Respect your opinion about the mag.

What opportunity have I missed? I’m always happy to learn and adapt from others.

Yes cookie corruption - all back to normal thank you for the suggestion

I just think it lacks some pace and creativity. You have developed a huge audience and support with MF so not surprised you have a great following but, again with respect, I personally believe you have fallen into into a standard magazine format - it lacks pace and immediacy that the MF web site has. Although the app does go some way towards it the content does not. If you were to blank out the front cover banner you would not know if it was MMM or CMC. Look at how others have re invented their sector say banking on-line. I would like to make a more informed view after the second publication. But good on you Jim a lot of really hard work and wish you every success.

A monthly mag can never have the immediacy of a forum, so of course it's always going to lag behind it, just like every magazine. As for the standard magazine format that is what I want, its not a competitor to this place, it's a competitor to the other magazines out there, that have whole teams working on them, it will take take time to find it's voice but I'm happy with the start. (y) . Thanks for you input and good wishes. (y)

1: delete the app, 2: go to your app store, 3: search for the app, download it, 4 click on the first issue and download it (y).
Thank you Jim, sorted. Very good app so really well done and thank you.

Jim, just downloaded the magazine and read about 1/2 of it. Been a difficult weekend so will have to return to the rest later.
But, have to say, I loved it!! The main thing that struck me was how refreshing and detailed the articles were compared to the CMC and MMM which I’ve discontinued. The articles gave honest and personal views rather than corporate bland guff.
DBK as always is a font of knowledge ... and I was intrigued (but not tempted) by the Naturist sites.
Well done to Jim, and all contributors and proofreaders. Yes, there are mistakes, but a really hard job. Happy to help out with this if you need more folk.

I saw that white screen at first , bit I scrolled left and the pages came up with blank pages in between. It seems to be working now

Hi Patricia, thanks for the feedback. Sometimes you'll see white pages when the mag hasn't fully downloaded to your machine. Are all the pages there now?

I use it on my iPad daily, and it’s as fast as anything.

Perhaps your device could do with investigating. I did have the same problems with another site (footballmad) and it turned out to be infected.
My keyboard become unresponsive and the internet was incredibly slow to load on some sites but not all.
yes, believe it or not, Apples do still get spyware running in the background.

ensure it has the latest updates installed. I ended up doing a factory reset.

Has Pandas ever written a magazine of any type. I have and I appreciate all the hard work Jim has put into this. To my mind, this is high quality for a new venture.
Congratulations Jim.
Nice one.

I wrote a monthly boat club newsletter - I started ambitiously with a 6 page letter, and it quickly became a difficult monthly chore.

I continually asked for club member contributions - stories/ hints and tips etc and got NOTHING, but if the letter ever went out 2 pages short (usually in the winter, for lack of things happening) the complaints came in thick and fast !

It was in the days of paper, so I kept a copy of every letter I sent out over the six year period. When the club closed down Clifton and a mate emptied the boat shed and threw every copy into the skip - I couldn’t believe he didn’t ask if I wanted to keep them!

Consequently, I applaud anyone that starts on a venture like this.
:clap2: Jim

So come on then, peeps, let's see your hidden literary talents? Already done my bit.

An interesting trip, UK or otherwise? Some particular advice on which you're maybe an expert? Obviously nothing that's already covered on the forum - but there again we're told the mag is aimed at a wider audience than forum members so you might have some ideas.

Finally found some time to sit down and start reading the new MotorhomeFun magazine, huge congratulations to Jim . A really well put together professional looking magazine. I am already looking forward to the next issue and I still haven't finished the first one. Off to the play store to write a review.
