Good morning everyone, I'm sure many of you funsters have a tracker fitted to your motorhome so can anyone advise a good tracker that does not cost too much and has not got silly monthly fees.
Thanks in advance
Anthony

However for my own use in tracking my vehicles I have used one of these in various vehicles. These are simple to install and seem to work well, they do need a SIM card purchasing and keeping paid-up.
The problem with those is they need a 2G sim which uses the old Text format that a lot of sims no longer support. I used to use one of them until I had problems with sims, now use a Rewire which is far superior.

Which is why I have just ordered the 4G version of a tracker I've been happy with, until recently. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Anyone used/got one of these Matrix iQ ‘MagTrack’- battery operated,DIY installation and apparently insurance approved/Thatcham S7 certified - on offer at £99 at moment and £85 a year subs. Any views?

Depends on just what you want it to do.

If you are reasonably good with technical stuff, then one of these
will sit in a motorhome quietly waiting for you to send it a text (or a phone call) asking where it is. It wll then send you a text back with a link to Google maps. (no app or tracking service needed)

If you are a even better with technical stuff, then the options are endless. Rewire used to use them on their accounts. A really brilliant bit of kit.
I use similar to this, hard wired & with a contract Digi sim 3€ month.

I saw that and thought it sounded interesting. I was worried though that there were costs above the tracking fee if a MH was stolen, they say "The device is also linked to our finder network so, should you want help recovering your asset, a recovery service with an average 1 hour national response time can be deployed to ensure your asset doesn’t get far."

Not sure many of the other, more expensive insurance approved trackers, recover vehicle for you but if this is genuinely Thatcham S7 insurance approved then seems a good deal - with no approved fitting needed - will be contacting them Monday to confirm the S7 certification

As they are not charging an annual fee and only a ‘small’ initial cost when you bought it. I wonder if finding your van would incur a hefty sum. We pay £140 a year for this service plus initial cost and fitting.

Don’t think ‘finding‘ issue, that can be done on app and there is an annual fee (£85 a year), the optional costs are to recover the vehicle - does your £140 annual include recovery of the vehicle?
