It will possibly be going the same way as with expensive cars, if security gets too good then you will find them next to your bed, asking you politely to hand everything over if you want to enjoy life for a bit longer, very sad but that the way the world is going. One of the best deterrents still is at least two or more vicious dogs….

This was happening back in the eighties with Sierra Cosworths the ram raiders favourite car, most blokes would have a go but when your asleep it’s dark you don’t know how many! It’s a totally different story to what you see on tv.
Even if you did manage to subdue your aggressors you would also face prosecution without doubt. Strange World

It maybe of interest to some who are contemplating getting a new motorhome that the new Fiat ducato is keyless entry and start.

Is that standard on every model or just an option?

lots of bravdo on here re confronting theives when they burgled the house opposite us they took 4 cars so at least 5 of them all probably carrying screwdrivers hammers crowbars and possibly knives .Do you feel lucky?

Even a tinker with a machete backs down when confronted with ammonia & jetstream pepper spray . You just have to be willing to use it without any thought or hesitation.
In reailty I would like to carry a gun but I know I would be shooting people withoiut even worrying about it.

TBH there's no way I'd risk injury by anyone trying to pinch mine. It's just replaceable transport and accommodation.

Theft of anything is terrible and sadly, it then puts us against each other. You don't have to outrun the bear, you just need to outrun your fat friend. So 'we' (the royal we) are now into the syndrome of making our van less attractive to nick compared to the next van. To do this we buy locks and alarms galore. And then buy better locks and more of them etc..

I do find it rather sad when funsters put up posts saying they have witnessed this that or the other that will almost certainly cause concern among some of our members, then fail to provide the source of their claim when requested. This thread was started off with a claim that the O.P. watched 'several videos recently where thieves are brazenly cutting locks off in broad daylight!' yet when repeatedly asked to provide links to said thefts no response was forthcoming. This leaves me to conclude there is no several videos of thieves who are brazenly cutting locks off in broad daylight and these types of posts are unhelpful and unwarranted. I'm more than happy to be proved wrong of course and eat humble pie. As sometimes I am wrong !
