motorhome stuck down Cornwall lane

Rear wheel drive is the answer . Weight over driven wheels makes all the difference
And more steering angle available.

What people forget about truck chassis (although sadly not dailies  ) is that the front axles tend to be further back, our wheel base is only just over 4m on an 8.4m Mh.

I know the road, whilst I'd never drive a motorhome down there, it's not the narrowest of Cornish Lanes, but it is very steep.

If he can get a tow up as far as the house, it levels off a bit after that.
Perhaps reading the signs at the start of the road would have helped.

But it's NOT a caravan as its often posted out on here.

So it will be fine then ::bigsmile:

Its not just the roads, its the queues that I dislike about Cornwall and - I do get why the locals get fedup but do they really need to be so grumpy? Cornwall does make a lot of money from tourism and selling old cottages to Londoners.
Just been for a week and everyone was really friendly, no traffic either. Perhaps it was the time of year?

Usually down that neck of the woods every year and locals seem no different from anywhere else. Maybe they're just grumphy everywhere though!:giggler:

I set my satnav for a large truck, not car...so it will only bring you on roads wide enough for large trucks. I also fine opening my eyes and noticing the road signs is a big help lol ;)

As said before this lane not marked 6ft6 or picked up on any sat navs initially is quite wide but tapers of down to barely six foot in places with step Hils & sharp bends very little turning places

Hi folks,
Last year we were in the French Pyrenees and went to look for a castle. The road to it had a sign just before a bend that said there was a 2.4m height restriction. So we stopped and looked to turn around. The SATNAV had not picked this up. I took a walk round the corner to discover the restriction was just on one side of the road, an over hanging rock. A second look at the sign showed more info and sure enough that was the only problem. Off we went - cool castle.
I guess the point is, stop and take a look. Be prepared to go another way, and above all, walk down the road a bit and see for yourself. ( Take a bike down the road to do a reccy)
For us, the joys of being in a Motorhome is the flexibility it offers, but that sometimes means changing your plans due to the situation you find yourself in.

Just flick the satnave to satellite or street view. You can 'drive it' to see what's there and read road signs. However check the dates the route was coved they may have built a bridge
