Motorhome & PVC Modding - Accessories & Discount Codes

Just watched a video of them and have to say they didn't sound that loud, i know they would wake you but would they attract attention if your away from the van. I know they're more of a deterrent and might prevent anyone attempting to break in.

Pretty loud inside but not from outside so mostly just a visual deterrent if away from the motorhome but a bit extra piece of mind if asleep & someone forces a window as too loud to sleep through so pretty much as you described.

Some great mods there, like the rear cam and the tyre pressure device.

Wife will be getting a Le Cresuet demi kettle for Christmas.

Already had a shaped Duvalay mattress topper https://www.duvalay.co.uk/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Shaped-Bespoke-Topper which we bought several years ago at the NEC Motorhome Show with discount but it was still a lot of money then so it felt a bit brutal attacking the foam with scissors to trim the shape to fit the new bed but after zipping the cover back up it looks fine :)

I slept well on the supplied bed cushions but Mr Wombles likes to be super comfortable!

Our motorhome has a tough flooring surface bonded to the floor board but still want to protect the garage floor from scuffs & scrapes so after trying lots of samples chose this Cobadot vinyl flooring to loose lay cut to size - it’s available in blue or black at 1.2M wide & can be bought in 1m sections from but if ordering 2m it is likely to be two sections not a continuous sheet unless you request that. If going via Quidco to Zoro then 3% cashback possible & £17.99 per metre plus £4.99 delivery but if order over £20 then free delivery. Also 5% discount code “ ZTOCT18 “ for next 17 days (y)

Haven't fitted it yet as so many little jobs to do but it cuts easily & doesn't smell of rubber like many other dot floorings.

I thought you had a PVC?

I think I've missed something here :)

The underbed large storage area is still sometimes called a garage ... we've got a big one! :)

I made the mistake in our camper of putting in some of the breathable external awning mesh/matting, like the stuff you put in cupboard to stop items sliding around, it was great at doing its job ... too great though, it stopped me rolling the wheel crate round easily or the Brompton bikes on their little 'transport' wheels ... it got ripped out whilst away and will NOT be going back in.

It's not as big as our last one in our coachbuilt Chausson but even though we now have a PVC I still do like to call it the garage :) I also like to call our Globecar a motorhome as most people think of a campervan as not having a shower or loo!

Hiya,
just curious why you would want to put tape on your headlight covers with LED lights? With their flat focus they're the same for both left and right hand drive. But I've just realised you probably mean for us poor people who have them on our old fashioned candle power!

P.S. love the kettle and the door locks. May have to splash out on those!!

Hi - the main lights are halogen & it's just the daylight running lights that are LED so had to change the factory fitted (this LED DRL type came as standard on our model) left hand drive ones for right hand drive headlights to pass inspection & register it in the UK. As this version is so expensive having the covers on here protects them & easy to add tape in the marked spots for on the continent :) Understand that headlights can be damaged by glue on the stick on type applied directly so avoids that potential problem too. Wish they had been the flat beam types as that would have been easier & saved a lot of money but we knew they wouldn't be!

Think the little kettle has been the most popular addition so far :)

Here's it in more colours to tempt a few more Funsters!

There's even pink!

Of course there's the classic red

Then this more alternative green

Just wish it was easier to source as ideal size for motorhomes & caravans.

The Dimplex Oil Free Eco Chico 700w electric heater https://www.dimplex.co.uk/product/eco-chico-mini-oil-free-radiator is lighter than an oil filled radiator & very effective when on EHU but would only carry it in colder weather when it’s most likely to be used so wanted something small enough to carry all the time & found this Kampa Diddy 750W/1500W powerful but small fan heater https://www.kampa.co.uk/accessory/diddy-fan-heater

Eco Chico £50.90 delivered here

Diddy £22.93 delivered here https://www.motorhomeshop.co.uk/did...Y2oYaY3xUa7EXsbqnC26836sKiPl0SmsaAvxIEALw_wcB or collect in store at £18.98

Worth having a look at the Kampa stand at the upcoming NEC Motorhome Show as they normally have keen prices & other heater options.

Thank you for the photo of the garage, makes perfect sense now (y)

Thank You and Mrs Wombles for all that info.
Very much liked the rear mounted camera for my Hymer.

Boxes for storage in the garage - super strong Wham Bam plastic boxes that you can stand or sit on & virtually indestructible so dual purpose :) https://www.plasticboxshop.co.uk/wham-bam-t665 - especially like the upcycled ones in grey https://www.plasticboxshop.co.uk/upcycled-t790 . If going via Quidco there’s currently 8-12% cashback possible & use discount “ SCH002 “ for 10% off your order & it’s free delivery too if over £50 excluding VAT.

Lots of colours & sizes

Recycled in black too

Have previously invested in a set of the original Wham Bam boxes for family regularly moving accommodation - transported many times now & been in storage too & no doubt dropped & bashed but still like new. Just need a few cable ties through the existing holes in the handles (handy to thread through a label too) & absolutely solid even with heavy items inside. Not cheap for plastic boxes but the best we have tried & more affordable now in the grey upcycled & black recycled versions & the Quidco & discount code above bring the price down a bit more too.

For anyone who likes recycled products this is how the grey upcycled boxes are made from household waste (although you would never guess that from the excellent boxes)

They even make boxes from recycled bank notes - clever stuff!

We had a Gaslow refillable bottle for our coachbuilt motorhome & it was excellent but for the new PVC we have opted for a lightweight 10kg Safefill bottle. We did consider Gaslow & Gas It direct fill bottles too but with slightly awkward side door access to the gas locker in the garage a lighter option is better for us.

This is the UK website http://www.safefill.co.uk/ but they have been out of stock for some time & when we contacted them they don't have timescales at present for when more stock is due :(
They are rare secondhand & sell for as much or even more than their original price so we looked further afield & ordered from Germany https://www.safefill-deutschland.de/epages/82696817.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=Categories
After a search online found the 5% discount code Safefill2018 that they gave out on leaflets at the Caravan Salon :) Using a zero rated credit card via Paypal we made sure we chose the credit card rate not Paypal rate which is appalling - have to click to change to this. Ordered four days ago & arrived today even with the weekend (y)

For us the German adapter that came with the bottle is handy as we have German gas fittings in our LHD Globecar but not needed for UK gas fittings.

Wouldn't it have worked out cheaper, and more 'efficient' to buy in the UK from Gasit etc? You may have trouble finding places to allow you to fill ones without a separate filler point (either in the locker or ideally external).

Our Kingham has a bayonet type connector to fill the on board gas, do I need adapter for France ?

If you have Safefill, Gaslow or Gas It you will need the French connector as in photo below.
For anyone that already has Safefill - from our research it seems that Safefill UK Euro adapters screw directly to the existing fittings on the bottles & Gaslow & other makes don't fit but with the new Safefill Germany universal converter adapter mentioned above then Gaslow fittings (have tried them) do fit as their adapters are the same thread.

Kettles again: We bought one of these a couple of years ago.

It's a combined teapot & kettle. Brimming with original thought I call it the Tettle

Many years ago when we camped in a tent and space was tight in the car for the kit, I used a metal teapot as a kettle! :D Ours was a keapot! :D2
