Hi folks been thinking lots on this subject after a lady member (drat my memory I can't remember her name ) on my Ashover Vintage Festival of Lights gave me the idea

Our motorhome is named Maxine and I made my own name sticker for her

It was suggested that I could for a small fee manufacture similar for others

so I have given it some thought and am asking who would like a name sticker for their van .

I can offer them up to 1.2m long (right across the bonnet) and a huge variety of Fonts (as supplied by MS Word/Publisher) and in primary colours (black, white, red, blue, yellow and green)

I plan to be able to post directly to you although at present not sure of cost as need to find a decent packing tube

SO.......
the crunch line is how much would you pay ???????

I was thinking at at minimum of £5 (five letters and less) plus postage - with a pound per letter as a standard fee

I got mine from eBay for a few quid .

I find the Idea of naming a machine cringeworthy.. but whatever floats your boat.:D
We have lots of names for our vehicles, depends on if they are working or costing us beer tokens, the more they are costing the ruder their names seem to be.(y)(y)

All my dad's cars were "Betsy" I remember him coaxing her up hills, "Come on Betsy girl" We've had a few names for vans, "The slug" was the most memorable, 30 years ago on an old Peugeot Talbot, I think the name was a play on the MCC logo at the time, as she was slower than a snail. Since then though I think I've only had names for my vans when they broke down.

Not sure I want to put my MoHo's name on her as a single woman - could be misconstrued but then I'm also paranoid. :cautious:

However, I did give her a name and ignore friends and family unless they refer to her by that name because I got so fed up of people calling her anything from a van to a mobile home to a caravan to... etc...

The general public are so ignorant about the difference between all these different vehicles - I have nothing against any of these vehicles per se but I do like to call a spade a spade and a shovel a shovel.

Just sayin' to make my point that there could be lots of good reasons to give a machine a name.

Mine had a name when I bought it, “ Hymer “

You have to give them a name.

We live in France and before we knew better we named our Citroen 2CV which we still have, 'Henri'. This has caused much confusion over the years as we learnt soon after that all cars are considered feminine so we have the worlds only male 2CV!

Camping cars are considered masculine and our Chausson has been proudly named 'Claude'. When I carry out a suicidal overtaking manoeuvre and scream 'Come on Claude for Christ's sake' I swear he tries a bit harder.........

Our Mh is named Jolienne (yes I love country & western). We have already ordered a name tag otherwise would have taken Madcaravaner up on the offer. As to naming vehicles "each to their own". It is personnel, our Mh is part of our lives so we have named her, she brings us joy and happiness and a new lease of life. And I know it's a she because men are from Mars and women are from Venus

I am intrigued. It is not a Hymer 'Tramp' is it? Oh Missus;)

I agree about defining different types of mobile living vehicles - ours is decidedly a 'Motorhome' 'cos that is how it feels.

I've given every one of my 736 vehicles names

What's more I can remember most of them :p

Current MH has just been christened Toby

Don't think I'd put a sticker on him though
Toby or not Toby. That is indeed the question ;)
Thought I’d had loads of cars over the years but 736 is seriously impressive (y)

I can barely remember my own name & in the good old days when I used to go to the pub I struggled to find the way home. o_O:D

Not sure whether our current motorhome has a name (not my department) but the dog is called Nell but I won’t be putting a sticker on her any time soon, and the same goes for the motorhome. Not saying you can’t put one on yours (dog or motorhome), it’s entirely up to you, of course.

For some reason ours came with names already but only for the rear doors, the left one is called Peugeot and the right hand one is called Boxer.

Agreed, I don't name my shoes or lawnmower either.

Mine came labelled 9E, to which I added “left” and “right”. Lawnmower (new lecky one) is called “Chinese Junk”.

Flora...................the explorer.
But I don’t want a name thingy stuck on her, thank you.

So much for asking

I asked for polite comments but nevertheless I will continue - - - - - - - so a few of you think it's silly but not all of you so that's heartening

I don't think it's silly
it's called personalisation (and cheaper than a personal number plate) and I know of other benefits from it

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Now be honest.... Did you expect anything else on Fun.
I certainly don't think anyone was being disrespectful or unpolite. :)

I'm sorry if my crocs joke was hurtful. It was thoughtless and uncalled for

Ours is Julian.

Johnny Walker was talking about a van of his some months ago on his radio show. The van was called Martha (and the van dwellers) - brilliant
